I live in western suburbs of Boston,MA (in Framingham), can anyone suggest places to play badminton in this area? I know the following places,
-Maugus club, Wellesley (too expensive, $650 a year!!!!!)
-MIT (travel/parking a problem)
-Hardward (travel/parking a problem)
-Natick (they play only once a week)
Ideally, I want to play 3 times a week.
Thanks in advance

This list is provided by "jwu" who's also from Boston area. However, not very sure whether the schedule / availability still stands for now or not.
btw, getting parking problem in MIT? I remember last time we went there, we just parked the car in the parking lot right in front of their gym... Not sure... Might be just lucky to avoid a ticket, :D

Thank you lazy buddy for the link. I live about 45 min away from MIT/Harvard area (West of Boston), it might even take an hour. Driving is not a problem, but parking is tough. As jwu mentioned in the link, I need to know someone in MIT to let me in.

If I don't remember wrong, for MIT, u can pay $5 guest fee to get into the gym. At least, that's what we did last time.
The pass is good for 1day, and u just purchase the 1-day pass from the front desk right next to the entrance of the gym.
But to avoid a waste trip, maybe u should contact them before u go.
sorry didn't catch this thread until now. Yeah that list needs to be updated and well, most places here with the exception of Maugus don't require you to know someone. which means you can just pay a door fee and walk in to play. someone have told me that even in maugus ppl have snuck in paying the $7 guest fee and get to play there, not so sure about that, haven't try it. :D
um there's no parking problem w/ MIT or harvard since both of them have parking lots that you can use and they usually have plenty of spaces.
hey fizk, if you ever wanna try one of these places, let me know and we'll meet up and go together or something.

Here is the ultimate web site for Boston area Badminton
http://www.ziplink.net/~wolfberg/badminton/bostonarea.html
Bedford and Needham are closed for summer.
Marlborough and Acton are waste of time because they only give lessons and may be 1 hr of play.
MIT and Harvard are good, but you must know someone there, I'm hoping to go with jwu next week.
Duxbury, Hamilton are too far for me.
Special at Maugus club (which is open 24/7), $200 for 3 months if you are above 25 or $150 if you are below 25.
Have fun

For MIT, I think u can just step in, and buy $5 day-pass from front desk. However, if u and jwu can go together, surely u can have much easier time to look for the places and having some fun together.
For the other club, I think that's a good deal if u can go to play about twice or three times per week. This way, that will be like only $5-$8 per session. Not a bad deal at all.

Marblehead Community Center, Sundays 9.30am-12pm and Wednesdays 7.30pm-10pm, $7 per session.
Mapquest (http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main.adp?go=1&do=nw&un=m&2tabval=address&cl=EN&ct=NA&1tabval=address&1y=US&1a=&1c=woburn&1s=ma&1z=&1ah=&2y=US&2a=2+humphrey+st&2c=marblehead&2s=ma)
Ignore turns 11 and 12. (Mapquest insists on putting in a couple of un-necessary turns right at the end.) The entrance to the parking lot is at the three way intersection of Layfayette / Pleasant / Humphrey.

I was searching for someone to play badminton with and ran across this site. I live in Newton NH, just north of Haverhill MA. I have an outdoor grass court and would like to find some people that would enjoy a friendly but competetive game just about any day before dark (as the wind dies down), 6 or 7 o'clock.
Send me an email if you're interested!

Hi,
I've been living in Boston for several months now. I want to be able to play badminton at least once a week. Does anyone know if when badminton season in BU starts and ends? I'm not quite sure if it's January. How much for a season? Does anyone who played have a contact number?
I haven't played in a while but maybe there's sommeone who would like to invite me to play with their group.
Thanks,

Tighri,
Assabet Regional Vocational High School in Marlborough is offering badminton courses. Course schedule is 2 hours once a week for nine weeks. This is not classroom type, everybody just show up in the court and start playing. It is more of paying for a place to play badminton and get to play with other enrollees in the course. I think the school is offering this twice a year. Unfortunately, the first one is about to end this coming second week of May. I and my other colleagues are enrolled here. You can checkout there web site at www.assabetafterdark.com (http://www.assabetafterdark.com/)
Thanks Jaguar. Dyou know the venue?

Hi, Joe:
Thanks so much for the email to me. However, I am living in Boston area. I can not go over to play with your guys in WPI. You guys can play every single day without paying, that really make me jealous, since I have pay $5-7 each time and only play once or twice a week here in Boston area.

There is a good group of people who play weekly at the Marblehead Community Center in Marblehead, MA. Badminton is played throughout the year at the community center and is open to the general public.
Marblehead is about 30-40 minutes from Burlington.
Badminton Hours:
Wednesday 7-10pm
Sunday 10am-1pm
Note:
There is a badminton club in Winchester, MA (next to Burlington) that plays every Tuesday.
On Saturday mornings, one can play badminton in Waltham, MA.
The Waltham and Winchester facility are not open year-round.

MIT badminton club summer hours: 7/student id, 12/whoever
tuesday and friday from 6pm-9pm
sunday 1pm-4pm,.
BU is no longer a public club unless u have a membership for their new facility.
Hi All,
Only problem with Maugus is annual dues, close to $700 per year. If you play close to 30 weeks in a year about 3 times a week, at $10 per day. $700 looks like a good deal. But if you plan to play year long, it turns out to be much cheaper than MIT and other places. They have 3 courts and different levels of players. It is worth checking Maugus out. :)
Maugus club is running a promation called 'summer membership'. It is $200 for little more than 3 months (Memorial Day to Labor Day).

Hi every one
I am new to Boston even new to United States. Are you guys still playing badminton? I need to make some friends here and play badminton together. I played two or three time each week in China, but never play since I came to Boston. I even don't have any equipment, can you guys tell me where can I buy them? And I need to join your groups because I need partners to play with it. I am not so pro on it, but will like to play both single and double, two or three times a week.
Thanks.
