View Full Version : Winex Mighty Muscle
mongoose 06-18-2003, 12:46 AM With all the hoo-haa surrounding Yonex rackets (SP, TH, TW CH, CP, JP...), I've decided to move away from Yonex.
So I bought myself a Winex MM99 and Winex MM100.
Both are 4UG2.
Both have NO serial numbers and absolutely NO DISTRIBUTION CODES whatsoever!!! :D
And they are made in Taiwan.
Excellent quality and finish.
I strung both at 27 lbs.
Frame seems to be very strong.
Took a while to get used to the much lighter weight.
But I'm now able to generate decent power with the rackets.
However the strength of these rackets lie in the superb control and feel.
Dropshots, netshots, low serves are absolutely accurate and pinpoint.
Absolutely no regrets! Didn't lose a single game last night!!!
I definitely have peace of mind now, without having to think about SP/JP/CP versions, "difference" in weight, balance, "quality", prices etc.
Go Winex!!! You the best! Simply NO nonsense... just pure quality!
Winex West Can 06-18-2003, 01:06 AM Of course I am biased here :D :D :D :D but ...
Right on!
4U at 27 lbs, wow! even though recommended tension is max. 22 lbs. The most I have strung is 25 lbs.
slacker4lyfe 06-18-2003, 12:40 PM just out of curiosity, where'd you buy your racket from and for how much?
LazyBuddy 06-18-2003, 12:57 PM According to ur location, I think u can either contact "Winex West Can" (official Winex Distributor in West Cananda, good guy :D ), or Badmintonalley.
WWC's site: http://www3.telus.net/K-SIS/Winex/index.htm
BadmintonAlley (CA, US): http://www.badmintonalley.com (However, seems a lot of their Winex racket are "close out", so, warranty might be an issue.
bluejeff 06-18-2003, 06:01 PM interesting......I will check out some Winex today in the store then :)
99 and 100.....I think I have seen those before......I just don't remember them....
Hey Mustafa - how much is WWC paying you? ;)
Morne 06-19-2003, 01:57 AM I play with Winex and trring them at 30 no problem
swijaya0101 06-19-2003, 03:07 AM ayl, WWC deliver a truck of winex rackets to Moongose
i purchased 2 winex racquet a week before Moongose ... (it's the mighty power 100 & the one that Mia Audina used).
i would say that winex rackets are comparable with yonex and ashaway.
good quality ... and worth every $$$ spent.
warranty??? why bother ... purchase it ... enjoy it ... damage it ... throw it away (it's the badminton life-cycle).
talktojeng 06-19-2003, 04:36 AM What is the series of winex seem or closely yonex TI7. I will try it .
mongoose 06-19-2003, 05:16 AM Hehe! WWC didn't deliver a truck load of rackets to me.....lol! He just helped me get in touch with the agent here. :D
So I bought both the MM99 and MM100 right here in Singapore.
Unfortunately, even the Winex agent here does not carry many pieces of each model.
No MM200 in Singapore... sigh! :(
But the Winex rackets I got are definitely great value for money!
tonito 06-19-2003, 05:26 AM Hello! I'll be flying in to Singapore late next week and I'm just wondering if any of you could recommend a good reasonable place/es where I could buy badminton equipment eg. rackets/strings, etc. Thanks
jamesd20 06-19-2003, 06:23 AM Am intrested in a winex racket or other brand with similar characteristics to a MP88, i am close to buying some apacs power concept 996 's-same paint job, weight, balance- i like them a lot, does anyone have information on durability of these or any other alternatives which are similar in malaysia.

Please do a search and you'll find many threads.
Winex West Can 06-19-2003, 10:10 AM Jeez,
if 10% of the Yonex folks are like Mongoose, Winex will be rich or at least able to provide a livehood for its agents/distributors. :D
That's one of the reason why I switched over to Winex a couple of years ago. The quality, pricing and the choices available to actually get a racquet that suits your game.
Jamesd, you are in the UK and I don't know whether the UK rep is still active. As for a Winex model, there is a clone available called the Mighty Muscle 88. Your best bet is to contact Taiwan to see who the rep is in the UK

I'm not trying to spoil the mood here.... but Mongoose has always done this.
First, he decided to switch to Adonex before going back to Yonex after a few months. Then he used Carlton, Ashaway, Sintec, Forza, Babolat, Gosen, etc in some time or another before going back to Yonex. I remembered he told me he wants to not use Yonex, but he always changes his mind. :o
Now it's Winex..... trust me. Knowing him, he'll definately switch back to Yonex after a period of time. Then he'll most probably start selling the rackets he bought. :D
jamesd20 06-19-2003, 10:47 AM wwc- yes am in uk but my friend is to get me some rackets from malaysia for me, thanks though i will contact for the uk contact aswell, any one help me for malaysia?thanks.
mongoose 06-23-2003, 08:08 AM Thanks modious... :D
My main racket will always be my Yonex MP77SP 2U.
But that's because I'm so used to the weight, balance, power etc etc etc.
The Winex rackets are excellent in their own right.
Great quality, finish, durability, balance etc etc.
I just wish they make them in 2U weight!
Then they will be perfect for me!!! Hehe!
mongoose 06-25-2003, 08:03 AM After playing with the rackets for more than a week, I must say that I'm beginning to like them more and more... :D
I've certainly got used to the faster swingweight and can now generate decent power with ease.
They are ideal rackets for doubles players especially for those who like to control the net (like me!).
The MM99 is much faster and has better balance than the MM100 imo.
But the MM100 packs slightly more power.
Played another great game last night! ... but lost very narrowly... 11-15! Sigh!
But the Winex Mighty Muscle 99 and 100 are definitely worthy to be my "money-generating" rackets!!! Hehe! :p
So now I carry 3 rackets wherever I play:
Winex MM99, Winex MM100 and Yonex MP77.
Woohoo....!!!
superv97 07-11-2003, 05:10 PM I purchased the MM 100 from WWC a couple of weeks ago. The Specs:
Weight: 3U
Grip: G2
Balance: Even
I have now used for 2 Weeks and I am very impressed. I play mostly doubles and I find the racquet perfect for me. I really like the balance. It is light and very fast, yet it packs quite alot of power. Clears, smashes, and drives are effortless. It is also quite easy to control at the net even with my general lack of skill. I like to hit slices from the back and this racquet helps me control the flight very well. I am very pleased with my purchase.
mongoose 07-11-2003, 08:32 PM Anyone knows where I can buy the MM200?
WWC?

You are in Singapore so you should be able to contact H.K. Lim to see whether any of the retailers in Singapore carry that particular model.
legal strike 07-12-2003, 03:43 AM so how much exactly are the mm99 and mm100? btw grip size G2 = yonex G?
gyj2001 07-12-2003, 09:15 AM For now, MM99,MM100,MM200 n Mia r out of stock. lim said the new shipment is likely to come in the end of this month. but it's unlikely to be cheap like last time. i can keep a lookout for u coz i live near sembawang.
ps: i m the dude who bought tt mm99 fr zenith recently.
superv97 07-12-2003, 09:27 AM Legal Strike,
I believe that grip size G2=yonex G4 grip size.
komr323 07-19-2003, 01:19 PM Anyone knows if MM100 4U a head light or a balanced racket?
Kaffie 07-19-2003, 01:32 PM You selling away your MM100 on yahoo already mongoose?

The MM100 should be a balanced racquet regardless whether it is 2U, 3U or 4U.

Thanks. I am really interested in a 4U balanced Winex racket. As I am living in Richmond, I think I'll wait for your demo racket later :p
talktojeng 07-20-2003, 11:38 PM I am interesting to buy Winex MM100, MM99 or Audina's Limited Edition. What's different in , i like to play with finesse, fast swing and high maneuvarability.

The Audina's Limited Edition comes in two versions, the MA and the MS (SA & SS versions of the Ti Swing Power). It features all the characteristics that you are looking for and although the paint job is different, they are all the same racquet including the new 2003 paint job.

Head light, extra Stiff, standard long and suffering high tension sting.
Wow !!! I will be waiting to buy. It's same Stiffer in 2 version (SA & SS) ?:
khengsang 08-24-2003, 09:21 AM I just bought this racket off Mongoose yesterday and used it for a few games :D
I must say it is quite a nice racket. It is very light (4u) but not to a point where it feels unstable. Due to its weight, I found I can generate quite decent power with it in clears and smashes. Plus due to the lightness I was able to make some crazy wrist shots! I would add though that I dont recommend this to anyone used to a 2u racket.. the difference in lightness would probably be difficult to adjust to. For me I have been using 3u all my life so this one seems to suit me fine.
This is a solid racket for anyone looking for a mp99 clone that is lighter, cheaper, and more flexible. BTW for comparisons sake I have a mp100 (3u), mp99(3u), and Woven Fighter (3u). The mp100 is the best for singles so far, the mp99 I would rate just average (havent been playing with it much and I dont like the stiffness), and the YangYang is the most powerful (but less control due to the flex). The MM99 is a nice in-between for doubles since it has less power than the YY, but more control and manueverability.
PLUS.. the racket gives a sweet POP sound when you hit! ;)
Thanks Mongoose, I will take good care of your racket although will probably abuse it with constant smashing!
fhchiang 08-24-2003, 09:30 AM where can i get winex in malaysia?

How much did you buy from him? And what is the expected value?
How much is Yang Yang Woven fighter there?
Makes me drool everytime i think of spending a month in Singapore and buy every racket i lay my eyes on :)
khengsang 08-24-2003, 07:02 PM He gave it up for adoption for free but I had to pay an administrative fee :p
Yeah coming here is making me racket crazy. So many rackets.. so cheap.. must buy all.. :D :D :D
Already I have bought:
YY Ti Woven Pro
YY Max Muscle 88 (sucks, traded it for Fighter)
YY Ti Woven Fighter
Gosen Aermet 5300 (sold to Modious)
Yonex Mp99TH
Winex MM99
Thanks to the BC_Singapore members I also got to try
AT 700
Mp90
Ti Swing Power SS SX
Mp77
Mp27
Bab Comet
Cab 20
Cab 21
Ti-10
Ashaway Silicon 12
Ashaway XT130
Today my mom is going to Malaysia and I told her to get me a TiW Yoga heh. Cheap at about RM 140 ~ US$40
So many racket bargains in the area that Ive had to go down to the rackets similar to my old and trusted mp100. Its crazy to adjust to 4 different rackets! So much temptation though, I mean at Pertama they had brand new Prince Iso shape rackets for RM$200 ~US$55 which can be strung at 30lbs! (3u). Decided instead to get the Aermet. All kinds of other brands too.. I might try Ashaway but I didnt like the 2 rackets I tried (Sil 12, XT130).
So with all this trying and buying what is the wisdom gleamed?
Simply.. doesnt matter what racket you use, if you are good you can adjust
But for people who dont believe that, go for Yangyang Ti Woven series or Winex MM series :p
mongoose 08-24-2003, 09:06 PM Hehe! Please take good care of this baby ok?
Its an excellent racket right? :D
I'll just keep my Iso Tour 800 SP, MP77SP and MP90JP, now that I'm playing alot less.
Phew! Finally.... I'm down to just 3 rackets....
Ok ok...4!... cos I still have my wooden Cab 3 displayed on my room wall. :)
graphite 08-30-2003, 10:31 PM How much is a new MM99 and MM100 in US$?
