I have seen an MP100SP and an MP99SP with serial numbers ending with the letters IP.
This is certainly something very new!
Does anyone know what they stand for? Or the country/players they are designated for?

Maybe it's Indonesian National Badminton Team's equivalent of CP/CN versions.

Mongoose,

Could you check the quality of the MP-100 SP IP against MP-100 CP? Maybe we have an alternative source of high-quality YY racquets. Will the Indonesian Team coaches leak out these goodies?

It is interesting.

I have ever seen "IN" stand for Indonesia rackets, but never seen IP. IN version rackets like Boron 2 and Cab 9 (with T-joint) have ever been available in HK in the past.

Anyway, many of the world famous Indonesian players are also using SP version rackets. Thus, I still believe we should put more concentration on our skills rather than on equipment.

Just my opinion.

I've seen only 2 in Singapore.
The MP100 was owned by a former international player (Indonesian).
The MP99 was on the shelf in a sports shop. Price tag: S$328.
Never got a chance to test the rackets. And I doubt I ever will. :(
If anyone is willing to sponsor, I'll buy the MP99SP IP and give a thorough review! :D

They are actually the same ... there i no different at all in quality.

All new MP-100, Ti-10 coming in to Singapore have region code IP, and most of them are manufactured sometimes between March - May 2003.

Last monday, i have a chat with indonesian yonex main distributor located in Bandung, all indonesian players are using SP/IP/TH region code.

Will the Indonesian Team coaches leak out these goodies?
yes, SP/IP/TH are their secret to success ... improve your skills, move faster ... they are all the same rackets.

Hehe! :D
That's a good quote!!

And swijaya is right. I have seen and held (but never got to play with!) an MP99 formally owned by Taufik Hidayat, given away personally to another international player. It was an SP version complete with PBSI logo and all...

Hmmm.... so "IP" is just a new region code for Singapore eh?
Sounds cool! Can be easily interpreted as "International Player's" version... hehe!

So, is IDP the code then?

I had seen a brand new Ti-10 SP sold in HK (Wan Kee, the store adj to New Youth) carried IP in two months ago.

Just a crazy thought.

Maybe Yonex just changed its distribution code in southeast asia from SP (singapore) to IP (Indonesia & Singapore ???) to get better "coverage" to represent larger geo. region???

i copied this from a past topic here at BC. it might clear up a lot of confusion.

"I see a lot of these two digit code with Yonex rackets, what are they?"

these two digit codes are country of distribution code.

you can find the country code on the "cone" right above the handle of the racket.

for newer racket, they are printed on the cone, for older generation, they are engraved.

as far as we know, only Yonex rackets has them.

they are used to identify where the racket is destined for.

SP is a very common country code as SP (Singapore) is the main distributor of Yonex

rackets in the SE Asia region. so there are many SP racket there.

the known codes that we know of are:

AS - Australia
BX - Belgium/Netherlands
CD - Canada
CH - China
CN/CP - Chinese National Team
DK - Denmark
FR - France
GR - Germany
HK - Hong Kong
ID - India
IN/IP - Indonesia
JP - Japan
KR - Korea
MA - Malaysia
NZ - New Zealand
SD - Sweden
SP - Singapore
TH - Thailand
TW - Taiwan
UK - United Kingdom
US - USA

there are also other more mystery codes such as

"SPY", which is similar to SP but is said to be more durable then SP.

CN/CP rackets have generated a lot of discussion.

CN/CP rackets are racket specially made by Yonex for the Chinese National Team. i

t is said that these rackets are especially solid and more durable than their other counterparts.

there are believer and dis-believers of such claims. and the debate will probably go on and on...

NOTE: these are distribution code, and it is NOT manufacturing code.

in other words, it absolutely does not tell you which country the racket is made in.

aside from CN/CP, there are rumors that certain rackets with certain country codes are

more fragile/durable than others. there has been no official confirmation of that matter.

most of these rumors are spread by some retailers whom we believe are trying to

discourage players from buying lower priced racket from overseas.
