View Full Version : Carbonex 20MP
Hackey 07-24-2003, 11:18 AM Looking at getting a new racket and saw this on a web retailers site. what is it like anyone? i've never been a big fan of the isometric head shape on the other yonex rackets and the enlarged sweetspot didn't realy matter to me as i have good timing. Just want somebody to "sell" the muscle power series or armotec series to me if this cab 20 mp isn't very good. What is so special about them? Thanks
Conor
LazyBuddy 07-24-2003, 12:00 PM Cab20 MP? Are u reffering to Cab20 Muscule Power? A lot of ppl using the term "Cab20 MS" instead.
If that's Cab20 Muscule Power, it's a cab20 with muscule power frame. I have a 2U version. It's a balanced (also regular length) racket. Decent power with excellent control. I think it tend to be fit for all around / offensive type players.
Hackey 07-24-2003, 04:04 PM yeah i mean the muscle power version. it's just that i am getting back into badminton after 8 months out and there are a lot of new racketts. i have had the original cab 20 but the new one i have never seen. really need some advice on what to buy as my next racket
cappy75 07-25-2003, 02:34 AM Hey Hackney.
If you're a power hitter, you should definitely go for the newer Cabs. I have used Cab23 for a brief period before I broke it. No regrets... except breaking it:D It's stiffer than the Cab 20MS (3U) I bought later on a post-mourning impulsive buy.
FYI, Cab23 is all HiModulous (Frame and Shaft) whereas Cab20MS has a HiMod Frame and a Graphite Shaft. Unfortunately, I broke that one too after awhile. Tensions were around (23lbs M 25lbs C). Both broken were due to clashes. Nonetheless, they are probably more durable at a lower tension (20-23lbs).
G'day Hackey,
I sugguest you go for Cab22 if you are used to play with Cab20. I've got Cab20-23 and must say although they all play differerently, the Cab22 is the closest to Cab20 in feel and playability.
I've tried Cab20 Titanium Power as well as Cab20 Muscle Power and didn't rate them any better than Cab23.
another cab20/22 user here, and i agree, the cab22 has similar character as the cab20, the cab22 being a bit stiffer so it is more responsive if you can hit really hard. the cab22 is my favorite racket now..
cooler 07-29-2003, 11:21 AM any cab22 left in asian store now?
according to the folks in HK, yes.. and there better still be there when i go to HK next... :)

The implication being Kwun can hit really hard:) But I do agree on the cab22 having a lot of stiffness.
This user has four cab22's in temporary retirement (i.e. unstrung)

Well, I guess the availability of the Cab racquets really depends on where you are and whether you feel comfy about purchasing online if you really want a specific one. Cab20MS and Cab23 are the only Cabs available in North American via official dealers so far. I suspect that UK and Ireland are probably Carlton strongholds despite Yonex dominance in the global badminton market, so selection maybe limited unless you order online and pay the additional charges that usually accompanied the price tag.
cappy75 07-30-2003, 12:21 AM I happen to chance upon a Cab 25 online and wondered why it's cheaper on the average than Cab 20MS and Cab 23. What are it's characteristics comparing to the other two Cabs? Anybody care to enlighten me? Thanks!
cappy, the cab25 is cheaper coz it is an older model than the cab23 and cab20MP.
do a search in BF of "cab25" or "carbonex 25" and you will find lots of talk on it. in a gist, plays something similar to the cab21, stiffer, but also rather fragile. i have a friend whose cab25 just cracked for no reason at all.
cappy75 07-30-2003, 12:57 AM Hey Kwun,
Thank you! You have just reinforced my decision to stick with Cab 20MS:) I think Yonex has a weird way of marketing their products. Shouldn't newer product be named sequentially? Anyway, I am just glad to know that BF and its kind members are there to save my butt:D
Cheers!
