View Full Version : Swing Power unite!!
Kennyb 07-29-2003, 09:52 AM Come on you people, unite with me if you are a Swing Power racket lover. Or am I the only person on this board who likes using the Swing Power??? Surely there are others in here who likes it aswell.
*room echoes....*
Fine, I shall go solo and beat everyone of you MP/Ti/AT and other models. :p
wood_22_chuck 07-29-2003, 10:59 AM Thinking of getting the Ti Swing Power SS after trying out my friend's racket. It's a sweet racket, but expensive. Other Isometric-head rackets I've tried have a squishy feel compared to oval-heads but the Swing Power is solid and has a "quality" feel to the shots.
In Vancouver:
Abbey's: CAD 259
Tad's: CAD 269
Racket & Runners: CAD 299
Ouch!

as many knows, i used to be an fan of the SP series. both the Iso900 Swing Power (SS) and the Ti SP Swing Power (SS). i think they are wonderful rackets and i have this warm and fuzzy feel of seeing an old friend whenever i play with them again.
however, nowadays, my preference has changed, i am now using traditional oval head rackets like the cab22/20. i am finding another badminton game.
my gf inherited my Iso900 (SR / SS(CN) ) and she has her TiSP SS. and she can hit some pretty nice smash from them.
yonexfanatic 07-29-2003, 02:46 PM I like the Ti swing power SX quite a lot. However, next week, i'll be recieving my mp99 and i can't wait. I will still use the swing power depending on how quickly i get used to the mp99...if all goes well though..i'll let my dad use the swing power
you will find the MP99 quite similar to the TiSP. the MP99 will have a bit less feel to it.
The racket was chosen for me by an ex international player who was helping me get my game back, his choice
TiSP SA, one of the few rackets flexable enough to tie in knots.
IMMENSE POWER & EFFORTLESS SHOTS - but only for wristy players
LONG LIVE THE SWING POWER:cool:

Yeh, I'm quite the same, my cousin who was an ex Malaysian State player got me into that racket and I can't get enough of it. :D
My SP is a SS, besides the SA being more flexible, is there anything else that differs between them?

I love the TiSP SX (one SP, one TH) alot and have two of those. I also have an MP90 JP and they're quite similar except the Swing Power has more power in smashes.
Currently, I'm using my 2 TiSP SX plus my Armotec 700 JP.

SS and SX weighs 87grams. SA and SR weighs 81 grams.
roby2003 07-30-2003, 09:13 AM RECOMMENDATIONS REQUESTED.
What ISO Ti SP model is suitable for me? I looking to get one from HK (quote prices in HK$ please)
I have:
1) ISO 900 SP (SA) - excellent racquet, found it too flexible.
2) ISO 800 - a perfect stiff racquet for my style.
I am Mens Doubles player, plays 80/20 attacking/control game.
My SP is a SS, besides the SA being more flexible, is there anything else that differs between them?
As Modius has said the weight is slightly different, as far as I know it's just the flexability that differs. The SA is aimed at the more attacking player where as the SA being the most flexable is aimed at the defensive player.
gleny67 07-31-2003, 02:49 AM I currently am using two MP 100s but am really missing my TiSp Sx. Although the MP100s are great for control and quick shots, the Ti Sp Sx really rocks with my style of play........smash and drives. In my experience, the Ti Sp has alot more power and one day hope to have 2 to replace my MP100s.
LONG LIVE the Ti SP :)
stantan 07-31-2003, 04:05 AM I have both the Iso 900 SS and the Iso Ti SP-SS.
Im currently using my Iso-Ti SS atm to the extent where I dont even touch my 3u MP99.
Funny thing is that I recently bought an ultra-cheap (around$40) RSL Millenium 3200.
I dont care what you say about it, it feels like a cross between the Iso Ti SS and SA.
It is slightly lighter and slightly more flexible than the SS (hence the comparison with the SA) but retains the balance and I would say all if not most of the SS's power! It is also exactly the same length as the SS.
I would heartily recommend this racket to anyone who likes the ISO Ti series and is seeking an inexpensive racket to use or keep as a backup.

Pretty interesting, kwun. I've never expected anybody to actually switch back from isometric racquets to the traditional oval-heads. So what happened to your MP s now?

i suggest you go get a cab22 or cab20. use it and only it for 1/2yr, you will see the reason.
i only have two MPs. one MP100, one MP77. the MP100 found its place in my gf's racket bag. the MP77 hangs on the wall of my cube at work.
all my other SwingPower's are in my gf's racket bag.
two cab20, one cab22, and two Iso600 live in my bag now.

I am using a Cab 20 now. I tested quite some Isometric racquets in the past one year and I simply find them 'boring'.

Don't let your gf try the cab20/22 or else they might end up in her bag too :p
If she ask how good are the cabs, tell her it's not good, small sweet spot, and the tensions are strung are too high for her :) Then change the subject immediately:cool:

There isn't a need to lie, dude. Just say, "Sorry honey, there are lots of things I'd do for you, give you, but not my Cabs. I'm sorry...".
:D
Cheung 07-31-2003, 08:30 PM Guess you haven't had a badmintonfanatic girlfriend before:D:D

Technically speaking, what i've sugguested are not lies. It's called negative marketing. :o
she is happily using the Iso900SS CN. my 3 cabs all together cost less than that one racket alone.
"i gave you the best....."

coupii 07-31-2003, 11:55 PM I didn't want to post a "me too" reply, but wilfredlgf convinced me to add my two cents. I used to play with Iso TI SP SS, and loved it. Then I broke both of them, and my pocketbook couldn't handle that so I switched to Cab23. Now I love the Cab23, although I found that I have turned into a different type of player. Much better feel and touch with the Cab racket, so I play more tactically now. So I'm another guy who went back to oval after using iso. But for what it's worth, I was definitely a big Swing Power fan while I was using it.
agree completely. TiSP/Iso900 are too fragile.
i have a friend who owns a cab23 and that thing is bomb-proof. you should see the amount of clashes he has.
the cab20, cab25 though are a bit more fragile. the cab22 is also very solid.
i also agree with the better touch and feel of cabs. i can maintain very good control of the shuttle even when i am completely out of position. furthermore, while technically they have a smaller sweet spot, i don't find my defense any weaker than before. i actually can defend better now that i can feel and control the incoming shuttle better.
kenlmw 08-04-2003, 12:16 AM I am definitely a Swing Power Fan but restrict to Swing Power 900 and 500. I don't know why I unlike TiSP but just the feeling when play it. I used to play double and find 900 SS is the best. Currently, I have more than 10 Swing Power rackets, including 900 SX, 900 SX(CN), 900 SS, 500 SR and 500 SA.
Sometimes ago, because of the shortage of 900, I have tried other rackets MP88, MP99, Cab20, RSL3200. But still not got used to them (may be limited by my skill level :( ). May be I just tightened by 900 for the next few years.:p
legal strike 08-10-2003, 02:39 AM IMMENSE POWER & EFFORTLESS SHOTS - but only for wristy players
yup i played much better with the SA then my mp99 and mp90

At this moment, I am still locked in by Swing Power rackets.:(

legal strike 08-17-2003, 07:34 PM thinking of getting the SR, can anyone pls tell me is there a great different in feel, control and power between the SR and the SA which i currently using.
TI-SP-SS dude 08-17-2003, 08:59 PM HI all,
I agree that the swing power series is an aswome racket series. I myself use to use a TI SP SS. In my preference i think it's an excellent racket, it has good control and also packs a punch.
But currently my cousin is offering me something for my SS (which i no longer use) his SR, or Cab20. I myself know nothing of cab20 and little about SR. I have used Sr before and it suits me very well. Can anyone tell me about CAb 20? (I have also heard of people saying CAB20 is the same as 21. thanks
Anyways, TEh SP series is GREAT. by far one of the best racquets out there.
LONG LIVE THE SP SERIES
G'day,
Cab20 and Cab21 comes from same family but play very differently. Cab20 is a very balanced all round racket with out gimmicks and it is favoured by many experienced players for its all round ability. Cab21 on the other hand has slim shaft with slight head heavy design which is aimed more for smash - style players. If there has to be a comparision to todays Yonex range it would be something similar to this:
Cab20 ~ MP88 ~ IsoTiSR
Cab21 ~ MP90 ~ IsoTiSS
Cab22 ~ MP77 ~ IsoTiSX
Cab23 ~ Ti-10
Most people I know can't switch easily between Cab style or a MP or Isometric type of racket. I used to be able to but not so much nowadays. I know 2 out of the 3 moderators in Badmintonforum now favours Cab rackets for their power, feel and control over Iso / MP rackets.
