Been watching closely performance of pairs like Jonas/Paaske,

Cai/Fu, Sang/Zheng.

Now comparing to game of msia pairs, it seems Msian pairs playing not

so versatile and quite easy to predict.

The top pairs play Korean style, sometimes like Chandra/Sigit, and introduce

elements of mixed doubles.

I am no expert in doubles but I feel that doubles play needs a quantum leap

and even Park Joo Bong will be out of date playing in men's doubles today.

Even more remarkable is Kim Dong Moon's cool calculated placements, as opposed

to raw power.

I wonder if Msia has people knowledgeable enough to take doubles into this new

direction.I daresay even singles development will be quite a challenge, considering

how China's players keep improving their techniques from tournament to

tournament.

From WC2003 video, it's obvious the Chinese team has made tremendous improvement in MD department. I enjoy watching Chinese new pairs Fu Hai Fung and Cai Yun as well as Sand and Zhang. Betwen these two pairs, Fu/Cai is more impressive and dynamic, I think with few more tournaments in belt these two "kids" will be hard to beat.
As for Malaysia team, we should not worry too much about Chew/Chan, I still consider them among the elite group, however, I am very concern about Choong/Lee and if this pair can no longer compete with the elite group then might as well let them go and bring out the new youngsters. Malaysia somehow reluctant to expose junior players to major tournament, for whatever reason, unlike China. I think we do have 2 juniors pairs that we can rely on and BAM should not be over protective in exposing them. I am sure the wolrd champion experiences many losses before achieving successes.
Malaysia MD maseh boleh!

"even Park Joo Bong will be out of date playing in men's doubles today."

Not sure about that statement. Class is permanent and PJB had lots to spare.

I think for physical power PJB might struggle slightly today, but with the right partner would undoubtedly be near the top still. KDM plays very similar after all.

I think the elite pairs this year have been the 2 korean pairs, Flandi/ Eng , Passke/ Rasmussen, wijaya/sigit.

Clearry the two chinese pairs are the upcoming stars and Gunawan/ Halim are on the sidelines without equal partners :( but would be near the top.

Chew/Chan back from injury would make up my top ten.

Interestingly 4 of the 10 pairs I mentioned did not feature at the WC for one reason or another.

Cai/Fu's still are pretty much on speed and power, they just love attack, attack and attack. Plenty of youth power in them. Almost like Ricky/Rexy in the 90s. If they could sustain their current growth, I will say that they will be almost unbeatable for the next 4-5 years, just like Ricky/Rexy era.

Sad to say, Malaysians now are nowhere near them!
