[u]3rd Round/[u]

1. Chen Hong won. No surprise here, is there?

2. Ronald Susilo won. I'm not sure about this but I was banking on Shon to get through. But he's the crowd favourite, no doubt.

3. Bao Chunlai emerged victors in this battle of Chinese vs Oversea Chinese, but I didn't think Wong CH would bow out so easily.

4. I had no doubts that Lin Dan would win in this one.

5. Chen Yu won. Joel_y is one happy guy, I guess.

6. Xia Xuanze walked over? What happened? So Wiempie (earlier called 'wimpie') conquered the world champion! (without hitting a shuttle...)

7. Yeap, another European charge falls here. Lee Hyun Il to go on.

8. Peter Gade returns!

[u]Quarter Finals[u]

1. Ronald tamed Shon. I don't think he would be able to do it again this time. Chen Hong to win.

2. I'd go for Bao Chunlai in this one. I like his graceful style better...

3. I don't think Chen Yu will walkover in this one. Mahardi packs up and goes home.

4. The battle of former great (still great) against an emerging greatness. Who will win this? I'll go for Lee to tame Peter.

I agree and hope for all your picks. Now the news is out that Xia suffered injury against Ong. What a shame and a pity. Leaves a sort of empty feeling inside after seeing him advance this far.

I'm picking Lee over Gade because I think Chen Yu would have a slightly better chance against Lee.

Susilo over Shon was quite a suprise. Same with Bao over Wong that easily.

I think it would be a great battle if the final turned out to be Chen vs Chen! But I hope for the best for Bao and Lin also.

Well, as much as I hope my picks goes through but deep inside, I hope it won't be China vs China finals. So, I hope Peter Gade can do something about Lee's raging ho... hopes.

Hehe..
I am happy because of the prediction, not because LEE TS lost. I like LEE TS too, but seems he is not as tough as before--when he wrestled over Taufik in the Thomas cup 2002.

Chen Hong (CHN) vs Ronald Susilo (SIN): Chen Hong
He is a very stable player, with better records

Bao Chunlai (CHN) vs Lin Dan (CHN): Both are very talented players. Though I like Lin Dan's style better. He is so dynamic, plays with passions...

Chen Yu (CHN) vs Mahardi Wiempie (INA): Chen Yu. He actually is a very good player in China internal games(beat up almost every one in the team)

Lee Hyun Il (KOR) vs Peter Gade Christensen (DEN):
Hard to decide, but my vote goes to Lee too, Peter has yet to convince us he is back to top form, even he does, Lee still has fair chance.

1. Zhang Ning. Experience rules. Never seen Xie play before.

2. I'd put my cash on Camilla! Never seen Wang play as well.

3. Zhou Mi! I hope she wears that red outfit again (Ralphy must snap some pics, badrad needs some convincing... :D )

4. Pi Hongyan. Ok, it's clear that I choose looks over skills but hey... it's... legal, no? :D

1. The flavour of the month : China. Sang & Zheng.

2. Tesana Panvisas & Pramote Teerawiwatana, take revenge for thy neighbour...

3. One last chance for Choong-Lee. Very very difficult against the Indons but I hope they get it right this time. But then again...

4. World Champions to go forward.

1. Why does this have to happen to soon!?!? I hate to choose between these two! Oh well, I'll go for Kim & Ra.

2. Don't know any of the two. I'd go for Clark-McEwan.

3. I'd like to go for the Indonesians but since I know nothing about them, and the Danes, themselves, I will be even in this one. No picks.

4. I'll go for... (asks 8 Ball)... Zheng & Zhang.

Good overall predictions except for a couple IMHO.:)

Gong over Pi.

Wang over Camilla.

Eng/Flandy over Choong/Lee (I like the Malaysian Chinese players as well, but I don't think they have enough in them to conquer the Indonesian-English-Indonesian pairs.)

Chen/Cheng over world champs (I want China to take it but I'm not sure if they're capable.)

Prapakamol/Thungthongkam over Clark/McEwan (ain't the Europeans a scratch pair?)

Zhang/Gao over Kim/Ra (okay so I will always pick Zhang/Gao but I seriously think any match between these two pairs will always be close to 50-50)

One comment: not playing MD for Kim, then Kim/Ra close to invincible for mean time.

I think Susilo will beat Chen Hong this time. But he will lose in the semi against whoever win between Lin and Bao

If Susilo play to form and don't freeze, then anything can happen. Chen Hong is definitely crackable.

Looks like Sang Yang's minor injury from WC '03 was reactivated again.
I think Chen Hong is probably going to reclaim the S'Pore title but Chen Yu will put up a good fight though.
Sad display by Zhang/Gao once again. They can destroy any competition but then loses tamely to Kim/Ra. Go Zheng/Zhang in XD.
Looks like China's on pace for 3 golds again. That is unless Zheng/Zhang can work some miracle magic in XD (which I seriously doubt).

Oh, and what happened to Mr. Susilo's secret tactics that he was going to use against Chen Hong? At least he played a better first game, but 2nd set same result.

Forgot to add that I think Lars/Jonas are probably going to take MD now, compared to the field.

when was the last time you saw a Singapore Open MD semi with 3 European and one Malaysian pairs?

i think Kim/Ra has pinned down the weakness of Zhang/Gao.

i had faith in Zheng Bo/Zhang Jiewen one/two years ago, and i am still having faith in them hoping they will finally find their game...

First time Kwun... Does this suggest a miracle is going to happen? Will the unthinkable happen? I am not betting on it though.

with all due respects, i am not planning to put any money on Choong/Lee. if i ever put down money on anybody out of the 4, it will be Jonas/Lars...

I have all my respect for the 4 pairs.

However, the fact is:

1. Top korean pairs not here - still injury for Ha?

2. Divorce of Candra / Sigit - still make me feel sad

3. Injury for Sang Yang - Don't laugh, see what chinese MD pairs did in WC...

However, the drift is 'significant' in S'pore and Choong/Lee are former winners in this tournament (beat Ha/Kim and Candra/Tony that year!) I'd love to see that match:(
