I missed it! Any pix?;) seven 08-30-2003, 07:36 AM http://www.badmintonphoto.com/catalog/images/Gong.Ruina-SINGAPORE2003.jpg ruth1 08-30-2003, 09:19 AM this is a question for girls only (unless some of the guys wear skirts). do any girls on this forum wear skirts when the play at practice or at tournaments. i have one and i've only worn it twice. i just feel silly in it. i have decent looking legs and some of my shorts are shorter than that skirt, but i still feel weird in it. whizkelv 08-30-2003, 09:48 AM Thanks for the nice pix, Seven!:) Jus_anothr_grl 08-30-2003, 10:21 PM Originally posted by ruth1 this is a question for girls only (unless some of the guys wear skirts). do any girls on this forum wear skirts when the play at practice or at tournaments. i have one and i've only worn it twice. i just feel silly in it. i have decent looking legs and some of my shorts are shorter than that skirt, but i still feel weird in it. Just wondering, does the skirt by any chance slow down your movement and prevents lunging? TOmike 08-30-2003, 10:33 PM i'd think so, perhaps it is an unsaid rule to not wear a skirt to save one's self from teh embarassment if it should rip during a lunge cappy75 08-31-2003, 02:53 AM From the look of the picture, I gathered that the skirt is not long enough to impede movement and probably made of sturdier material so tearing is unlikely to happen when a lunge is performed. Also, it's loose enough so that it doesn't "ride up" on the legs. So, I don't see any problem with it:D It is a rare sight to see a lady player wearing old skool attire for games, so in a way it's more attention grabbing... nothing wrong with that;):p seven 08-31-2003, 07:07 AM Obviously, badminton skirts are made for playing badminton, so they don't prevent any badminton movement!!! (I can't imagine professional players wearing skirts if it wasn't the case!) Wearing badminton skirts is quite common locally, but I'm not a girl, so I can't answer to ruth1 about how it feels wearing them! ;) wilfredlgf 09-01-2003, 06:09 PM My my, I made the same remarks about Zhou Mi being hot in skirt during the WC2003 semis and I thought I was alone, but somehow I am not... :D Here's a pic of Zhou Mi in similar attire that she wore in Singapore. Badminton & Tennis (http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11276) I thought about the question that ruth1 had asked when I was watching Zhou Mi taking on Wang Chen in Indonesia last week and I am not sure it does inhibit movement or they just don't care? yinsoon 09-01-2003, 08:57 PM ooooo.. sexy :D jump_smash 09-01-2003, 10:31 PM Courtesy of Badmintonplanet.com - PiyanHong at Japan 2003 jump_smash 09-01-2003, 10:32 PM Courtesy of Badmintonplanet.com - Xie XingFang at Japan 2003 blckknght 09-01-2003, 10:38 PM skirts seem to be a rising trend then - certainly we've seen a lot more players wearing them in the past year or so. If the players like to wear them, then hey, rock on. wilfredlgf 09-01-2003, 10:40 PM Originally posted by blckknght If the players like to wear them, then hey, rock on. Everybody else can revert back to shorts but Zhou Mi MUST remain in skirts... :o ;) :D jump_smash 09-01-2003, 10:48 PM Courtesy of Badmintonphoto.com - Mia at World Champs 2003 miffy 09-02-2003, 06:57 AM i don't see what's the big fuss about zhou mi ....i think she's ugly?! edwin 09-02-2003, 10:55 AM Pictures of Pi Honyan and Mia Audina are posted on this thread about Asian wearing skirts. Since they are representing European countries, maybe the subject of this thread should be "Zhou Mi is the only Asian reprsenting an Asian Country wearing skirt?" seven 09-02-2003, 11:18 AM :D Is there any decent non Asian WS player, except Camilla Martin anyway?? (sorry, off topic!) edwin 09-02-2003, 04:15 PM Originally posted by seven :D Is there any decent non Asian WS player, except Camilla Martin anyway?? (sorry, off topic!) Ceck out Camilla's website under photo's. www.camillamartin.net Joop blckknght 09-04-2003, 11:51 AM hmm... that site hasn't been updated in a long time. and i think Seven was asking if there were any good Women's Singles players from Europe besides Camilla Martin. I can think of Mia Audina, but otherwise WS players from Europe are not yet on the world stage very much. jwu 09-04-2003, 12:56 PM how about kilts for guys? just a thought. :D nSmash 09-04-2003, 02:11 PM Originally posted by jwu how about kilts for guys? just a thought. :D might get a little drafty... :D seven 09-04-2003, 04:00 PM Originally posted by blckknght hmm... that site hasn't been updated in a long time. and i think Seven was asking if there were any good Women's Singles players from Europe besides Camilla Martin. I wasn't counting Mia Audina in the European girls though... her case is the same as Pi Hongyan, they both are Asians representing European countries... Actual European girls are just not up to it, except Camilla! wilfredlgf 09-04-2003, 08:05 PM Originally posted by nSmash might get a little drafty... :D ... and falling down may let the world see more than they care to show? nSmash 09-07-2003, 02:05 AM Originally posted by wilfredlgf ... and falling down may let the world see more than they care to show? nothing a bikini wax won't fix... :D cappy75 09-07-2003, 02:21 AM Originally posted by nSmash nothing a bikini wax won't fix... :D True... true... but then again, this may apply only to those who keep to tradition;) |
