View Full Version : Rising star ?
Seems like Misbun commented that Lee Chong Wei will be Msia's new star.
Now Lee is even smaller than Ong Ewe Hock, skinny and short and may well
be a male version of Gong Zhi Chao. Never saw him except fr clips on TV.
Revival of Eddy Choong ?
whizkelv 09-01-2003, 01:04 AM Have not seen Lee CW play but according to my friends, he is plays a thinking game rather than power play to oust Wong CH in the national championship.
Hope to see him in action in near future.
Surprised to learn that not a few Malaysian fans have not seen Lee Chong Wei in action.
I was fortunate to watch this relatively small-built Malaysian Champion play in the recent S'pore Open and must say I was impressed by his agility, fine strokes and as you have mentioned, his thinking game. How else to be able to defeat fellow countryman, Wong Choon Hann?
However, I only hope he is bigger and stronger to be able to make a big impact at the world scene. Unlike the ladies singles, there are more powerful men players to contend with at the international stage.
Tezta.com 09-03-2003, 10:55 PM I think chong wei is pretty tall..he used to be shorter a few years ago at the world jrs. but recently ive noticed he has grown a bit. i think hes about 5'8" or so
Lets see how he matches up against Bao in Msia Open,
that will be a good benchmark for him.
Speed vs craft.
Then hope he can play Taufik sometime to see
how his skill compares.
whizkelv 09-04-2003, 10:04 AM If Lee CW beats Bao tomorrow, we'll see his photo in the The Star front page!:D :p
george@chongwei 04-26-2008, 12:34 PM so now lee chong wei is the world number in world of badminton mens single category:)

"Thinking" player.. Yup, Similiar style with Arif Latif.. And they both were considered "shortie & skinny" too...

:D:D, sharp, Samuel. You were the one who said "thinking" player. + Arif has older "shortie" bro Zakry to show him shorties can make the squad in the world of baddy.

Hopefully Arif will be another LCW...we need more players like LCW.
NiKYEAM 04-27-2008, 09:57 AM Hmmm, a relatively reliable way to see if Arif can be the next LCW is to see the way Arif is playing now and then compare it with how LCW was playing at Arif's age. If the skill level is similar, then it's all about how much Arif can develop already.
tjl_vanguard 04-27-2008, 11:40 AM arif is very small built.. same s LCW in the past.. another LCW in the making>? :D

So what about this? Does anybody know LCWs results in similar age?
george@chongwei 04-27-2008, 11:19 PM lee chong wei use his head to think and play:)
but i dunno hows arif playing style.
winnie 04-28-2008, 04:35 AM then make arif plays under coach misbun ;)
ctjcad 04-28-2008, 04:47 AM ..so many demands and pressures from winnie ar??...sounding more and more like BAM or FAM Chairman...Pretty soon, every top junior Singles players must be under Misbun's coaching ar??..And Misbun will be required to make predictions every 4-5 yrs ar??....haiyaaaah...:p ;)
winnie 04-28-2008, 04:50 AM haha i wonder if i actually able to impose any pressure or effect with wat i said :p just simply a suggestion ;)
I'm pretty sure there will be a time that Arif would be trained under Misbun.
winnie 04-28-2008, 06:20 AM I'm pretty sure there will be a time that Arif would be trained under Misbun.
perhaps lo.. cos they are training in the same place which is stadium juara ;)
eaglehelang 04-28-2008, 06:23 AM Arif is already training under Misbun, as announced by Rashid begining of this year. Maybe that was short term. TCS trained under Misbun for a spell.
