Mine is! We have a reasonable number actually, but the gulf between the women who play in the teams and those that do not is vast. To be honest none of the weaker ladies are even near being good enough to play in our league. And as one of our ladies has just defected we are in major trouble for the beginning of the new season.
So does anyone else struggle for women?

at my private club (training, ladder games, etc), the ratio of men to women is about 4:1...so you could say there is a lack of females playing/training.
However when comparing it to recreational clubs that i play at, the ratio of men to women is a bit different, probably around 2:1. Yes there's still more males than women, but it's not as lacking as the private club

I think the same "ratio difference" apply in a lot of places.
In recreational clubs, we tend to have more female players, but in general, their over skills are very low.
In competitive clubs, we tend to have even less % of female players, but they usually lay in the mid range for skills. They could be very competitive, and a lot of them can kick at least half the male members butt easily.

is an extreme shortage of females at our club in Red Morton in Redwood city California. Perhaps only 2 or 3 turn up on a Sat compared to at least 30 males I played a lot of mixed in the UK and enjoyed it a lot. I even tried here to get one to partner me in the Tournament coming up in October asw the best female in the club who is from Indonesia would not play as she did not like mixed. No one on this site replied.

I think it's pretty much the same everywhere... ratio of gender participation in badminton clubs are rarely in favor of women. Perhaps women participation is much better in Asian countries, but it doesn't look too promising in my part of the woods:(
As it's especially tough for new players to break into cliquy groups in badminton, it's doubly true for women. Unless they are really good and manage to impress in the first few sessions, women participation in recreational badminton will continue to be minimal.
Hey Yonexfanatic, are you talking about IBC? Cuz if you are, then there's cause for optimism:D;)!
