How would you go about finding out the speed of your smash. Everyone says i should have my smash clocked as they say it a very fast and powerful smash.

and i don't use a Yonex Mp racket.

thanx

i know it sounds like a wierd question.:)

At the All England Championships, Carlton had a stall where they put up a machine to measure your swing speed with a radar gun. You take a racket (a Carlton one of course) and you hit a smash in front of the radar and it measures the maximum speed of your racket head.

The person who had the fatest smash during the tournament gets a brand new racket. They had categories like men's, women's, juniors, etc.

I tried out for the men's and missed the top speed by just 2 mph! A pity, but I'm not a huge fan of Carlton anyway, especially those rackets with the square cones.

I'd love to get a radar gun of some sort to clock speeds just for fun. Anyone know if WalMart sells those? :D

Would a police radar gun work for measuring shuttle velocities? The shuttle may be a little small to be measured accurately though.

Otherwise, the radar guns used to measure hockey slapshots should be decent as the shuttle is roughly the same size as a puck. However, some small sensor attachments may be required.

Actually, Carlton has been absent from the All England these last few years, as Yonex is the Sponsor....

My friend clocked in the highest speed on one of the semi final days, but forgot to go back and check :o
