congrats!

Does this make BF the biggest online badminton forum?

Not really. If you count the quantity of 'quality' posts, then the count would be less than 5,000 I think. ;)

Congratulation for the success. May many more badminton lovers come and share their views and opinions in this forum

I think this site wouldn't be successful without the wisdom & supervision of our Moderators (Kwun & Cheung) and of course the sponsors and would be sponsors... :)

200K is too small. We'll wait for 1,000,000. ;)

yes, Mag is a moderator too!

1,000,000 posts, eh? that will be quite something, i think it will take a few years more... when we get there, i will organize a big celebration. not sure what or where though... ;)

the DB is a couple of hundred megabytes.

i think BF is easily the biggest public English forum.

there are some other big forums like the chinabadminton one, but in Chinese, and badders also, but they are mostly private forum that we don't see.

So, I guess a solution to get up to 1,000,000 is to get several more moderators??? :D

If you started BC.com earlier before the bubble bursted, BC.com should be able to go public and you can be as rich as Jerry Yang of Yahoo. :o

CONGRATURATION to Kwun, Cheung and Mag.
Especially to KWUN, the creater of this Forum.
Hit a 150,000 posts is not simple.

It means that this forum is the wel known in badminton world.
I hope that this forum not only 'big' in quantity but also 'big' in quality.

The character of BF will change - that's inevitable with an increasing size. Hopefully, the proportion of posts by the three moderators will be decreasing!!:D

And, all credit goes to Kwun for his effort in maintaining the website. I, rather shamefully to say, only play a bit part here;).

Maybe the BF T-shirt really plays a huge role in "recruiting new members". Personally, many local club members copied down the website name, and claimed that they either registered or visited as a guest recently. ;)

yes. BF has been known for the quality of our postings. however, as the number of member grows, we find it more and more difficult to keep the quality of the post high. we have raised the awareness before in the "Insensible Postings" thread. hopefully we can keep the quality level as we grow even more.

but you are right, it is an issue but i think the majority of the members are doing fine.

it is not possible. we simply cannot afford it. BF runs on very low budget unfortunately. so we rely on words of mouth.

if anybody wants to help out, you can do two things:

1. tell your friends
2. if you have a webpage/blog/whatever, put a link to BC (www.badmintoncentral.com (http://www.badmintoncentral.com)), we are pretty high on Google now but the ranking fluctuates. would be nice if we have a solid position in Google. that surely will help our popularity a lot.
3. keep coming back to visit BF and make quality postings. it is the high quality posting that attract ppl.

Perhaps organise a 'round the world' badminton trip? Play in a badminton club in every city, every country...a little too adventurous...and perhaps a little too costly, hehe :D I do wonder though, how many fanatics would take this suggestion up if they are able to afford it?

Or become a human billboard... buy the T-shirt and wear it every time you play (just don't suck:D).

Too late ... I'm guilty. Maybe I'll get a marker and qualify on the T-shirt:

"The play level of the individual wearing this BF T-shirt in no way reflects the quality of BadmintonCentral/BadmintonForum. And if correlation needs to be extracted, it is a negative correlation."

Lol... if u need that... I don't know what I should put on my BF shirts. :D

At least, I made it up by giving away several BF shirts as gifts to my friends, who are much much better than me.

I've been reading a lot on BC.com. It's a great site hands down.:D Thanks Kwun for developing this site. 180 000 posts eh. thats a good acomplishment. congrats.

But there is a down side to the influx of new members. For BC.com, it may not be a problem now. It might however become one in the future. With more members comes more insensible posts. I say this with experience. I'm registered at another forum, 48th largest on the internet, I've been there for a couple of years now. Back when i first registered it consisted of a couple thousand people, we discussed very interesting topics and posted with common sense.:) Over the past year or two the amount of members grew to 75 000 with over 4 000 000 posts. Most of the veteran members left because of the unintelligent and stupid posts and threads.:( I now rarely go there because of the number of nonsense topics and posts.

I'm not discouraging new members to join BC.com. I'm encouraging them to join and to promote badminton and BC.com. I'm just warning you what might happen here as at the other forum above. I myself love badminton and play and compete as much as I can.:D So Kwun please don't let this forum go down the drain like some other forums.

I like this forum because it has that small community feeling where everybody knows each other.

This all seems weird coming out of a mouth of a 14 year-old.

Somedude,

i very much appreciate your concern about growth and i wholeheartedly agree with you that when a community grows, there is a potential of losing quality.

many of the regular member knows that we value quality more than quantity here. we have in the past discouraged insensible posts and we always try to make sure that discussions don't get off course into the wild.

so you have my word that we will make sure BC always put quality first and we will not allow the forum to become a trashland like some websites do.

ps. sometimes maturity doesn't have anything to do with age. :)

No need to advertise. It only invites party crashers.

True badminton followers of all levels will find their way here either by (1) word of mouth or (2) simply googling. I found my way by (2). I've been telling friends and relatives about this wonderful place.:)

The cool thing about this site is that it brings people together without knowing it. I mentioned this site to a couple of baddy friends and surprisingly, they are either already members in here or visits it oftenly. BC/BF has become what I would say to be the net's greatest source badminton of info.
Congrats to all the mod's for having to put up with our stupid posts!! (well, a couple of mine at least :o).
