School. The objective of this event is to promote the social
competitiveness of badminton and help out in our community.

The tournament will consist of Mixed Doubles, Men's Doubles, and Women's
Doubles. Each team will be guaranteed a minimal of two games each.
Competitors will be asked to supplement tournament costs with a nominal fee
of $10 per person in the first event, and $5 per event thereafter. Non CPB

To promote competitive badminton, random draws will take place with door
prizes and other exciting prizes. An emphasis will be placed on ensuring
that most participants receive a small token of our appreciation.

The tournament will be promoted throughout the GTA and beyond with heavy
participation from badminton clubs, high schools, university campuses, and
members of CPB.

Thanks Everyone! See you then!

Darn!! I was hoping someone didn't post this, this way me and my partner could have won the championship easily.:p :p I hate my life because all the good events happening is on May 18. My final decision is to goto the tournament, or go AutoXing with my brother. Can anyone help me decide? Oh yeah, I love cars too!!

What do you mean what should you do? Badminton of course...... DUH!!

BTW, we're going to try to setup most of the prizes as door prizes, (in addition to the first/second place prizes).

Oh ok, cool....
Do you guys have any ideas what prizes will be offered to the first place of each category?
I hope its a new racquet!...(*wink wink....;) )
And yeah, I'm not sure if I am a member of CPB or not because I volunteered there before and they said I was a member. But on the CPB site, it says that you need to pay to become a member. So should I say that I am a member? This way I can save $3!!!...
Don't say I am cheap because $3 is a lot to me!!.....It can last me a week of food...:p

First/Second place will most likely be getting something like a raquet bag + some grips, etc...

We expect to have at least a raquet in the door prize draws. There will probably be better prizes in the random draws than for First/Second.

(don't quote me on the above, that's just 'planned')

Regarding CPB Membership, it's a yearly membership (unless you paid for a three year thing), so if you haven't paid, I don't think you'd be considered a member. You can check by emailing cpb@cpbmississauga.com

BTW, I'm in Scarborough, so I can take registration forms if you don't want to go all the way to Mississauga.

I think we will most likely be gettin some pointfore raquet..... i dunno, there's only a single review about any pointfore raquets in the misc section, but they look ok.

For the bags, I'm not too sure right now, looks like either yonex raquet bags or pointfore (I prefer we get the yonex ones...).

There will be gift certificates in the draw too. We are trying to get everyone something rather than just the winners.

i most likely won't go... my normal partner won't go cuz he won't want to play in a tournament that does nothing for his rank, or people he knows go to, and my skewl partner won't go, because he's lazy..

There is no registration deadline (well, technically you can't register after the tournament is over....). Also, when our capacity has been reached, we can no longer accept registrations.

actually, it's better to go to tournaments when you suck... then you learn new things, and you know how far off you are... i'm not saying that u take it easy if you're close, but you can then expect a certain level of competition...

So you know, there will be a wide variety of players. I don't think we have first time players, but we have some beginner teams registered, intermediate level teams, and some more competitive teams. Chris Tam signed up in men's doubles, and there's at least one ex-varsity team (i'm not too sure if they're ex-varsity, but they'd make the team) from U of T....

The focus of this tournament is on encouraging players to gain some formal badminton experience. I believe at least 70% (value-wise) of our prizes are going into the random draw so that you don't have to win to get prizes. Basically, the point is to have fun and play badminton!

I'd want to come and just watch people play. Do I have to pay?

I don't think we will stop people from going in to watch, but it depends on how many people are there

I am going to fax the forms, but Im wondering if we can pay at the tournament and not bfrehand like mailing?

You can do that, however your registration will not be complete until you pay. This basically means that if we have too many registrations, those who pay first (up till the max # of teams) will be guaranteed entry.

Think of it as a day trip. You can register on the day of (assuming we can accomodate more teams still. So far, we can) if you decide to go. Registration is at 9am.

BTW I will post here if we do reach max capacity
