I am thinking about starting a local badminton league and need some feedback about the format & scoring system. We have some numbers of people that play badminton regularly and it would be nice to start some kind of local league.

Here is the format that I am thinking about...any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

1) 1 team consists of 1 men's single, 1 men's double, 1 mixed double (sorry no women's single since we do not have enough women's playing)

2) 4 pts system, 1 pt for each match won and 1 pt for the winning team

3) Round robbin every week and probably do a play-off for the top 4 teams...

What do you guys think? Any comments?

Thanks!

Sounds somewhat like a ladder. The scoring format seems alright as long as you think it'd work. What we do around here for fun club play (league/ladder, etc) is instead of using a 4 point system, we use the points won in the game to determine total points. Can't go wrong with that.

Example. team A beats team B, 15-6.

Therefore team A gets 15 points on the scoresheet and team B gets 6. At the end when the round robin is finished, the points are added up and whoever has the most is at the top of the ladder.

In your case, if you're going to have a playoff of the top 4 teams, it'd be the top 4 teams with the most points.
