View Full Version : Do u Rembember school
ttktom 10-04-2003, 02:34 PM i do when we were doing P.E i used to get the mickey taken out of me because i wasn't much good at sports untill we did badminton that was :D
when people started seeing how good i was at then the mickey taking stopped and i was beating everyone in my group 15-0,15-1, and i beat my P.E teacher as well. isn't it great when u can laugh at the people who laughed at u because ur not so good at football or basketball.
Rohly 10-04-2003, 03:03 PM Nobody in my school knew the rules properly so everyone cheated.
other 10-04-2003, 03:28 PM very true:)
although you got to do badminton in PE? we only got like a couple of weeks:(
not long enough:D
Badminton was only played in 5th year and above in our school, no wonder it's difficult to spot talented juniors they're almost seniors when the pick up a racket.
Well for me , some of us had extra 2 sessions of Badminton while others had Maths subject or homework. Of cause with the help of our Maths teacher which was the school badminton coach. No wonder i get bad grades for maths during that time hahaha.
Rohly 10-05-2003, 02:15 PM Wow, ants you are so lucky.
Lucky to have bad grades? heheh :)
Joanne 10-08-2003, 06:58 AM The only time we got to play badminton during PE was last year, after our UPSR exam. But no more this year. :( I think the teachers are afraid the racquets will get stolen. Not forgetting shuttles too. Besides, I doubt many PE teachers now know the real game.
woop. 10-08-2003, 07:04 AM I never got to play badminton at school. Infact I only took it up last year aged 27!!!! What a sport though. Absolutely lovin it.
Nanashi 10-08-2003, 07:43 PM i remember the earliest i played it in skewl was in grade 6.... but that was cuz one of the teachers wanted to start a club...pretty half assed club though.... no one knew what the rules were, and we played with a net that was (literally) as high as a volleyball net... maybe because we actually did use a volleyball net....
i guess grade 7 is when i REALLY actually played badminton in skewl... we actually used proper nets, knew the rules etc..
bigredlemon 10-08-2003, 08:05 PM never had badminton in school... ever. Lots of football... soccer... track.. that was about it. :(
Sucks how some school just drops the unpopular sports altogether in favour of focusing on the maintstream sports. One of the students tried to start a badminton club in HS but couldn't get funding so we all had to bring our own stuff (racquets, nets, birds.)
Joseph 10-08-2003, 08:42 PM I remember badminton in school, it was just last year. hehe...and ill experience it again once season rolls around again.
Joanne 10-08-2003, 10:01 PM My school badminton club just started this year. The teacher wanted to pick about 10 students, so he had try outs. But he didn't write down our names etc in other words he didn't know you. At the end, he told who made it. But, he only knew certain people. He was like, who was that boy at the last court? You? No, not you etc etc.
He picked some really lousy players through this method and some good ones didn't make it. When those who didn't make it went home, he continued training us. At the end of the session, he kicked 2 of the poor players out. But he didn't find a replacement for them. Now the club consists of only 9 students. For my form/grade(whatever it is to you), that is.
Yeaah I agree with bigredlemon. I did track and netball this year. Hate netball because my leg won't stay still when I'm having the ball. And to imagine I actually liked it 2 years back and played it for fun! Love running though. Especially long distance. Sprinting isn't so much fun.
Swordfish712 10-09-2003, 06:27 PM I'm starting my badminton unit next week in PE... Lol it feels great when everyone goes like "woooooooooowwww!" when you do a smash with that piercing bullet sound, or when you do a funky trick shot... I can't wait!!! (lol yes I am somewhat a show-off)
And I also used to play badminton in my elementary school... My grade seven teacher would set up the nets during lunch time and everyone would have a lot of fun! My friend and I always played together to try and beat my teacher but we never could... Haha now I feel like going back and asking him for a rematch...:p
wilfredlgf 10-09-2003, 06:59 PM Earliest age I can remember when I played badminton? About 7 or 8, I think after being awed by my brother's brand new Carbonex 8 SP back then. Been hitting around a bit but never followed up until...
... I was 10, was in school after watching the AE on TV (hear that, RTM? :) ). Joined the club for about 2 weeks before the teacher kicked us all out to give priority to the better players. Didn't play again until two years later.
