I was just on the baofe website and i saw that Simon Archer's car was a Porsche Boxer. Being a professional badminton player can't be a bad job.
Just as well he gets his money from comentating and coaching then!!

I bet. You must have to be the British number 1 before you can compete with even third division footballers for wages. Ridiculous.
SImon Archer has been the most successful English player and has been at the top since a relatively young age.
Suppose most player train from when they are 16 through to reaching their peak at 24-28. Now the years from 16-21 they will most likely lose money through playing , i.e. any grants won't even cover their costs of events / training. Now they may combine education with this training but either way there are 5 years of lost earning potential or indeed paying out more than you make. Perhaps in the peak years from 24-28 they make a decent income, but there is always a risk of injury or indeed not even making it to the top. Suppose they reach no.1 in the country and make £50 k a year for 5 years. Looking at the overall time investment and lost earning potential thats still not a spectacular return!
Hopefully the player can then use their sporting success to gain a job in coaching, administration etc but I still doubt anyone would do it for the money.

I am not saying he doesnt deserve it, he does.
Well at least he is driving a Porsche Boxer. I mean the car there is relatively cheap according to the living standard in UK.
In Malaysia , Indonesia and China.. the pros don't even drive such a nice car. Just a normal Ordinary car.
Starting price for a bog standard boxter in the UK is about £31-32,000. And thats bare bones, you need to pay extra for leather seats etc.
