Out of curiosity,

for those participating in series/competitional play, what division do you play in?

(You only need to answer if you play series/competitionor similar).

Well, some countries like the UK have a letter grade system. A are current national team players, A- are players who make up the national squad and high level county players. B+ and B are county and league players, C+ and C are your average club players, and D are beginners.

There are various divisions within each county, and the inter-county teams themselves play in several divions. Then there are various levels of qualifying tournaments in which you need to get enough points to play in the nationals.

I play B+ at a large club and if I'm lucky, a English team player will grace us with his prescence (they have their own sessions, but they sometimes come to the A-/B+ sessions) and we can get a game against them.

I guess most of the guys/gals on this forum are B and B+, except the few younger players in training for national teams, who are A/A-.

I've seen the letters being used by some Americans as well, but I don't know how standard it is over there.

Ok, nice, in Sweden we basically have 6 divisions:

Elite
1
2
3
4
5

I really don't know about a Swedish national team. I mean, we don't really have many large and important team based competitions in the world in badminton, right? (I don't think the olympics and such count since one team-member's effort doesn't neccesarily affect anothers)

And oh, I'm not participatng in any of the divisions mentioned above.. ;)

in Ontario (Canada) we have a 5-point system

A - high end competitive club or national player
B - competitive club player
C - regular club player
D - lower to average club player
E - new to the game

I'm about at high-B aiming to make it to A level in the next year or two. I just got a good partner for doubles that should help too ;)

Similar as in US.

I would say I am in the C range. Working toward the B, but maybe still look like a D (or even E??? ) to many skillful BFers... :D

In France, the ranking system is as follows :

Elite : best national and international players (~20 to 50 best ones depending on which disciplin)
A : good national level
B : top regional level
C : good regional level
D : good competitors
E : average competitors
NC (= non classed) : all the others

A point system determines everyone's ranking automatically.

My ranking is B1 in men's doubles (part of the best B's) and C2 in mixed doubles (average C).

True, we have a guy who used to play for Zimbabwe at our club. He's b!oody good, but I am certain there are many national teams he would not even be remotely close to.

Well, obviously not or he wouldn't be playing at our club.
