This is an odd question, but since shoes are a hot topic at the moment;
Has anyone ever used (or considered using) some kind of additive to help increase the level of grip from their shoes?
To give an example of what I'm asking about - In RC car racing, tyre additives have been used (especially with foam tyres). Outdoor tarmac tracks are sometimes prepared with a sticky solution (eg coca-cola).
Now I'm not advocating that people start pouring coca-cola all over their local badminton courts (!), but I wonder if something could be done with the shoes themselves.
I don't recollect ever reading anything in the rulebook that would preclude this and anything used would obviously need to be court-friendly, leaving no residue or marks.
Thoughts anyone?
So far i don't think anyone have used shoe additives. Well what we can do is just get a good pair of shoes with good traction. And also constant cleaning of your soles to remove the dusts or whatever that might make lost of the traction. And also to make sure the flooring is clean and in good condition. Maybe you want to use the foam tyre to try on your shoes.
Not additives but a stay grippy thing for your shoes

Japan.
You could ask those specialist badminton stores in HK as an alternative. They sometimes have them in stock.

I see many club members wetting their shoes if they feel the "gripping" is not tight enough.

In my place...they poured some detergent powder on the court before they play....supposed to give shoes better grip...I was at this particular inter-zone tournament and the players did that

curious to try using the "Swifter" mop. no water needed, as the strips are disposable. but will be a two step process - sweep with a broom first, then mop with the swifter. will probably take a few minutes for each court, but will be worth it.
the school gym that I am coaching at now is brand new, one year old. Yet I have noticed that the floor is so dangerously slippery. the problem is that the finish on the floor seems to have worn down, and that the gym is in between the playing field and the locker rooms, which means every day students run from the field with whatever is tracked on their shoes, through the gym leaving dirt and grass and mud.

hmm, that looks like a inexpensive way to enhance grip and extends life of old shoes.
