looks like a AT700 !

it will take a long time to adjust from his regular cab20 to AT700.

now we know why he is in such bad form lately. :)

It is so interesting to see that Xia changed back to his old racket to win the match. The following picture is the one when Xia finally won his last match in China Open 2003.

Are you sure that's an AT700? It's difficult to see from the pic, but the inside of the frame at the T-joint looks red, whereas the at700 is black. The top of the frame looks silver, mind you. Also, he was definitely using a cab20 at the WCH2003; surely, it would be very risky changing over so suddently to a racquet with a completely different feel at such a big event?

Mikell must have posted while I was typing up my post; I couldn't tell from the first pic. of Kwun's; I'm surprised you were able to. We must have different prescriptions  It's interesting that he made the change all the same.

Maybe he's just using both interchangably? Its not like we haven't seen it before? Didn't Gunawan use the mp100 and cab20 during the olympics? And as for the shoes......... i think the 89's womans is much nicer. the only real differnce is its a bit slimmer. maybe he has slim feet :)

perhaps. only time will tell if he will continue using it. we have seen others done the same. for Tony/Candra, they eventually completely changed to the MP100 after the Olympics.

in the case of Gade, he tried switching to MP77 (soon after MP77 came out). but eventually he changed back to the slim-10. but it looks like now he has found his racket, ie the mp88

taufik the same, switched from i thik the cab20 to mp77 also, didn't like it, switched back. i dont' even know what he is using now.

Xia and WongCH are the last few who are still using cab20. it certainly has its legacy.

he couldn't get used to the AT700 after all. this is taken at victory against LeeCW. he switched back to the cab20.

the strategy make sense though, try out the new racket on the earlier rounds, if it doesn't work out, then switch back when it matters...

Taufik also used the MP99 for a very short period. I remember he smashed the racket up during a game, and I think he reverted to a MP77..correct me if I am wrong.

TC2002 against Lee Tseun Seng. a very ridiculous call by the Thai umpire totally infuriated Taufik.

I was an audience when Xia vs Boonsak in Semi-Final of HK Open 2003. He losed the match. (Boonsak played very very well. He could return Xia's smashes the shuttercock in all angles and directions. He's so young and only an university law school student. I think he will become a star. So weird, in both badminton and tennis fields, Thailand have two rising stars.)

I recorded the semi-final when TVB covered the match live. I'm 100% sure Xia was holding AT700 in his hand.

But whether he is now stick to AT700 or not, especially in China Open 2003, I am not sure. I guess Xia will change to AT700 since some Chinese players are switch to this racket too.

P.S. In the Semi Final of HK Open 2003:
Gong Ruina - AT700 (She won because she was back in form on 3rd game.)
Jun Jae Youn - MP100 (Although she losed, she played very well on that day.)
Audina Tjiptawan Mia - MP88
Boesen Anders - Ti10 with Wilson printed on string (Quarter Semi Final)

Smash Guys:

Boesen Anders is using either Wilson V2 or Wilson Hyper Carbon 1.0, there's no chance he is using Ti 10.

i'm kind of disappointed..........

xia is one of my favorite player, i thought he would switch to the cab 30 that will be coming out soon>>>>already in japan.

i thought that xia was down in form due to injuries.

oh,,,,,,,,,, kwun thanks for the informal invitation to play at pleasanton, but i don't think i can make it this week, maybe next time.

Xia used Cab 20 when he vs. Boesen in HK Open 2003 Quarter Semi-Final.
