Hi all,
OK, it's one of these 'is the racket for me question' that upsets alot of people, so, sorry moderators :D *kisses*. Anyway, i was thinkin about getting the AT700 for xmas, but heard that it is head heavy. I was wondering, for all those who have one, in say 2U or 3U, is the head really noticably heavy? Does it make shots and defence sluggish?
Thanks
Matt
G'day Matt, long time no hear. Where have you been hiding?
I've used a 3UG4 version of AT700 and I find it almost as head heavy as Iso Ti-SP-SX. It is no worse than MP77 / Ti-10 (both 2U) in defense so if you're already used to a head heavy racket it shouldn't be much of a problem.
In the month I had to play with AT700, I really didn't rate it that highly. I am still at the opinion that Ti-10 generating more power, MP90 giving better control / defense and MP100 providing best all round for balance in power, control and defense.
So far the both my friends who owns AT700 have stopped using them. One's gone back to MP100/90 and the other's gone back to Cab20(!)
So do you want to buy a second hand AT700JP? ;)

The AT-700 is only available in 4u in the UK, and - I'm told - 3u in the rest of Europe & in Asia. The 4u UK version is very noticably head heavy. In the short time that I had one, I really didn't like the weight or the feel of the racquet, and switched back to mp100. However, some people who don't like the mp100 seem to like the AT700; the best suggestion anybody can offer you, is to try out a demo model.

I have been playing with the AT-700 3U G5 CD for a month already. The frame is very solid but the overall weight is too light as I am used to 2U or U racquets. I find that 2U and U racquets give me more stability during stroke production. Head heaviness is not a concern.

AT700 is very head heavy even though it is light. I agree that the 3U version has similar feel as Ti SP SX, but it is more solid imo. If you can adapt to the head heavy balance, it is a very powerful racket. The 4U version is not particularly light like MP88 4U, however I see no point to choose the 4U version if there are choices because it is not particularly powerful imo.
I don't like AT700 at all when I first used it, but I start to enjoy using it more these days - it is powerful and light, which gives you powerful smashes and good defense. This is the edge over rackets like Ti-10 2U or MP100 2U.
However, it really depends on your play style at the end of the day. For example, I still prefer using MP90 3U in doubles which gives better defense and control imo.
I have been using the AT700 for a while now and would say although it is noticably head heavy at first once you are used to it it just feels balanced (depending how you grip it and what with).
As YF2K3 points out in the UK it is 4U and is light but it is a very powerfull racket to use and also very sturdy. The one thing that I have noticed is that my usual string tension of 23 was like a wooden board on it compared to the factory string which (dare I say it) I prefer, so you may have to play about with the tension settings.

At700 is head heavy. I have both 3U and 4U. 4U is more noticable head heavy. In regards in does it make shots and defence sluggish? Based on my experience , you may have to get some time adapting to the racket. I've posted this before that i find it hard to play with At700 after using MP90. At700 tends to make me more tired hence no strength in my shots , no power in my smashes. But after 2 weeks of using it then.. now i find it no problem. In fact my smashes is stronger and my defence is quicker after adapting to it. my shots and defence is not sluggish anymore. Btw what racket did u use before?
