View Full Version : Where can I get a 2224-9 bag
I have found out what Yonex's largest racket bag is but where can I get one?
It's not available for sale in the UK.
I have chacked the retail sites listed on the front page and I can get one in Japan but it costs c£105 not including shipping. I also found on in the US for $60 but the store does not ship overseas!
HELP!!!!

:D  Where else but on the internet can you get this sort of advice?
Dill, you could probably fit a junior in the 9 racquet bag; why on earth do you need a bag this size? I think the 2220 is a tad too big, though, that's probably because I have to carry it on public transport.
Not for the same price as an AT700!!!!!!!
I'd rather buy another one but would then have to get a bigger bag to put them in;)
cooler 11-27-2003, 04:29 PM It is vicious circle isn't it;)
cooler 11-27-2003, 04:37 PM maybe even 2 juniors:D
Ok dill, stop drooling.
cooler 11-27-2003, 04:38 PM you might save some money going to this one
Stoppit Cooler I can't cope:eek:
We always get the short end of the stick in the UK!!
As a coach I need to put a lot of stuff in my bag such as first aid kit, shuttles and of course rackets, shoes and other nick nacks. But I don't want a huge big holdall and would prefer a larger version of the one I have at the moment.
ynexfan2003 11-27-2003, 06:44 PM First-aid Kit? You gotta' be kiddin'! Given the choice between mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and dying, no offence mate but I think I'd choose the latter! :D
ynexfan2003 11-27-2003, 07:13 PM There are 12 racquet Babolat and Wilson racquet bags at http://www.directsports-eshop.com/ , but maybe they're not quite as stylish as the Yonex one.
ynexfan2003 11-27-2003, 07:28 PM .
Needs to be Yonex I'm afraid.
You'd be surprised how handy the deep heat spray and Ibuprofen gel come in. Not to mention the blister specific plasters:p
ynexfan2003 11-27-2003, 07:59 PM ahaa....!
http://www.badminton.net/bags.htm (11th item down).
Close but no cigar, I have tried this site earlier today and when you go to their purchase part of the site it is not listed and even the 2224 is an old version. Look at the bottom left - not updated since 2001.
I have now been on hte net for close to 6 hours looking and e-mailing retailers to see if they will ship to the UK.
ynexfan2003 11-27-2003, 08:38 PM They probably just haven't updated their website; I'm not sure when the YY2224-9 was released. In any case, you could phone them in the late evening and pay by visa. I've ordered various things from America (mostly non-badminton related), and one thing I've noticed is that American companies rarely respond to emails.
Wait a second...wasn't the guy I mentioned before selling the YY324 9-racquet bag during those recent matches? He must have been, because when I asked him about the 6-racquet version, he said he only had the bigger one for sale.
A lot of the US stores do not take Visa because they cannot verify the cardholders address by anything other than Amex, they need to watch the fraudulent purchases and are quite strict on being able to trace the purchaser.
I have only seen one site that will take money order or funds transfer but I am giving up hope rather quickly on this one.
ynexfan2003 11-28-2003, 11:14 AM That's strange, because any American stores I've dealt with have accepted Visa; badmintonalley.com does not mention in the Help section that they don't accept it. It looks like they also accept international orders: their shipping policy mentions an additional fee for international customers. Have you contacted them already?
Didn't the Yonex 9-racquet bag B. had for sale suit?
Dill, is the reason you're always on the hunt for obscure items (cf.
http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12592&highlight=yonex+stencil ) that you really need them or that they are difficult to find? If so, I could give you a special price on a long discontinued and difficult to find Prince Axis75: £100. Now, that's a good price, seeing that you would have to hunt high and low to find another one of these racquets.
Well I got the stencil and ink, but have been looking for 2 days now and still cant get the bag!!
In the checkout section on Badminton alley you can only enter a valid US zip code, I tried my UK postcode but it still won't let me proceed. What a pain.
cooler 11-28-2003, 11:22 AM dill, their new site is
http://badminton.net/~iyang/cgi-bin/cart.cgi/scan/fi=products/st=db/co=yes/sf=category/se=Yonex%20Bags/va=banner_image=/va=banner_text=.html?id=vZxVbuur
it doesnt look like they have the one you want from their 2003 line up.
I saw that last night after modifying a link supplied by Ynexfan, the link on the main page to SDBS has it on display and it is this years model, well it matckes the look and colour scheme of the other pro bags.
Well it just goes to show you how usefull this site is for doing your research!!
I got in touch via e-mail with www.tennisnuts.com to ask if they are able to get this bag and they replied:
that is the yonex pro 8 rkt thermo...which is on our site..at £36.
http://www.tennisnuts.com/ishop/677/shopscr387.html
rgds,
XXXXXX(name changed to spare blushes)
The link is to the 2220 badminton bag and not even the regular 2224, nevermind the -9 version that I pointed out that they do not advertise and gave them the dimensions.
How are we supposed to trust retailers that do not know their own stock?
Thanks guys I managed to get two as wee gifts for some friends, and the shipping for two from the U.S. was only $55. It costs about the same to send stuff from the West coast of Scotland to the East coast and takes from 3-5 days.
Just in case you want to know what it looks like
Cheers Cooler for your help
Dill, i went through the thread twice, and i still cannot figure it out, so you got your bag from the US, but from which retailer? it is the 2224-9 bag? but that pic you showed looks almost exactly like the 202-9 that cooler posted... so which bag did you ended up getting?
i am also fond of big badminton bags. i went from a medium-ish 6 racket bag, but then i realized i could hardly put 4 rackets plus shoes + stuff in it, so later on, i moved onto a larger bag, now i can put my 6+ racket, 1-2 tubes birdies, clothings, wallet, small towel, shoes, tripod, camera, powerbar from 6months ago, etc, etc, in it.
but sometimes i wonder if i should have a bag that fit the rest of my wardrobe along with the whole bag of training birdies as well...
OK, from my perspective.
The 2224-9 is a larger version than the 2224 (12.5cm wider due to the extra pocket) which I allready have. The 2224-9 is a one piece bag (3 sections)and the 202-9 is a one berth bag attached to a two berth bag by a zip i.e. it separates as shown in the picture.
The 2224-9 is as far as I can make out the top model in the pro range avaiable mainly in the U.S. The 202-9 is not available in the U.S. and is probably for Asian countries.
If you look at the 2224, the -9 is just the same bag with an extra inbuilt section, I am a coach as well as a player and need to take all my stuff to work, I go to the gym straight from work and need to fit everything in it, first aid, coaching tools, shuttles, clothes, water etc. I fit 6 rackets in the main section (overkill I know) and in the other my shoes, so if you can imagine it only really leaves half a section to fit everything else into. So I need a larger bag.
The other one is a present to the coach who lets me help out at his classes and always gives me a lift home afterwards. Just my way of saying thanks.
I do have a holdall but it is far too big to take on public transport and to fit under a chair or in a locker at the gym.
In the end I got them from Badminton Alley from the main page, I have to wire the funds because they do not take Visa/Mastercard and will do so tomorrow so I get them before the competition i'm playing in on the 14th. Just so I can turn up with a nice new bag.
So as I said earlier, this site is good for doing research, and finding out about products.
Invaluable!!
Dill, thanks for the description. i only realized that the 204-9 is a separate when you described it.
good luck in the tourney.
cooler 12-03-2003, 01:30 AM You're welcome Dill, you did all the leg work anyway.
I also learned from your quest that the 202-9 isn't same as 2224-9 and the latter is available in the US. :)
JChen99 12-03-2003, 01:41 AM hi Dill,
I'm wonderin where the shoe compartment is on the bag (side mid top or bottom?)... thanks!
If you visualise your racket sitting there, the shoe compartments are in each section where the grips are on your racket i.e. at the back of each section.

I see... Thank you! :D
cooler 12-03-2003, 01:54 PM yes, there are 2 separate pouches for shoes or wet towels, assesible from the top side.

Well, I was wondering because the 624 bag (or 424... cant remember the model #) which I have rite now... has only one compartment for both shoes... between the rackets from top down. Because of this, I end up not being able to put as much stuff into it as a similar sized bag with 2 separate shoe compartments at the bottom of the bag
Well the 2220 and 2224 basically has two, one on each side, but if you put rackets in one of the sides you cannot use it for your shoes or anything else because the handles take up the space.
So the design is a bit of a waste of space.
Well I have wired the cash and have sent the e-mail letting them know the details, I am just waiting for a response from them! Lets hope it goes well !!
Just wondering why do you need such a big bag?

huh? there is no page 3 here :)
cooler 12-03-2003, 06:40 PM scroll up :o :)
The bags arrived this morning at 10.00am, so from California to Glasgow took two and a half days for $55 or about £32 - amazing.
:D :D :D :D :D :D
