I only managed to do it once, the shuttle was smashed straight at me and i couldn't knock it away using a back hand to shield myself so i quickly stepped aside and did a quick swing at the shuttle. My racket hit my chin hard and honestly it hurt like a *****!!! I had this big cut on my chin and couldn't play for about a week coz i couldn't get sweat in it..... anyway, that was my only time

when i first started playing badminton, i always hit myself when playing cos i'm a wrist using person and always swing too hard overhead and end up hitting my lower body like leg, knee and stuff......it gets dangerous sometimes cos i'm a guy and therez certain parts that's quite important on the lower body but i dun usually hit myself anymore(luckily) unless my hands slipped on the grip

It happened to me once and boy was it nasty. I was playing with three very good players in my league and was trying to play as aggressively as I could when one of my opponents hit a short clear to me. I smashed the shuttle as hard as possible and had a huge follow through, one that just didn't stop until I hit myself in a very awkward spot. I lost my breath, started feeling dizzy and nauseous and could hardly move for a minute or so. I thought I was going to have to withdraw from the game, but I decided to go on and somehow pulled together one of the best games I've ever played.

Just last week I smash at a friend in a practice match and he managed to click the edge of his eye.

5 butterfly stitches later and he's as embarrased as hell!

Don,

you hit yourself while doing an "in between the legs" shot? i won't even ask where you hit. :P

Not really, Cheung. I was having a rather hard time breathing and dealing with the pain and dizziness, so I wasn't speaking much for a few minutes.

May, watch a few martial arts movies and notice that when a fighter gets hit in the face or torso, they usually just grunt and keep fighting, whereas if they get kicked in the groin, they stop, start gasping and bend over in pain. A blow to that region on a male body can be quite debilitating and can sometimes make the guy squeal in pain in a high-pitched fashion, hence Cheung's question.

i can only do behind the back on forehand side, not backhand, cannot do between legs, but the forehand behind the back is especially useful against smashes directly at ur body when u dun have time, this movement gives u time. i sometimes hit myself with this trick shot
