Hi Batu Khan,

Do you know Valeryj Strelcov and Elena Nozdran from the Ukrainian team? Valeryj is my coach and he is playing in our team in Luxembourg.
As I am not in Lux at the moment, do you know if they are playing at the TC & UC?

Regards,

Manuel

Hi there,
I am in presov

Here are the results as of now:

In the Uber cup quarterfinal no suprises

Germany - France 3:0
England - Sweden 3:0
Denmark - Bulgaria 3:0
Holland - Russia 3:0

In the Thomas Cup
quarters are to start in one hour

I dont remember the pairs now but there were no suprises in the group stage, only Spain was beaten by Ukraine 3:2. Now great chance for Poland to advance into final four, Poland plays with Ukraine.

Yesterday Sweden was playing against Holland for the place in the quarters and it was amazing match (3:1), the Dutch supporters (moustly players) make so much noize, they sing, etc. - great atmosphere for the play. Swedish were very close to win but they didn't managed.

And one amasing thing - I managed to chat for a while with Jonas at the players (btw, I am not a player) party yesterday evening.

Now need to run

Regards,

dzgdz

Poland win,

In the match that was extreamly interesting Poland finally won

first point went to ukrainian wladislaw druzdzenko, but then next two singles (all played three ganes) went to Polish guys

last double was the matter of formality and Poland finally won 3:1

it is extraordinary success for Poland

now Poland takes up Denmark...

Big upset came when Germany won against Dutch girls in the splendid match of UC semis. Germany won 3:1 winning first and third singles and second double. Realy hard fight with Piotrowski on the German side playing really sharp.

Yesterday great match also saw French and Germany in Thomas Cup. Although the score was 3:0 for Germany, France had really good chance to win when Nabil Lismari had a match point but didnt managed to finish off against Joppien (I assume that France should win both doubles).

Regards,
dzgdz

A very surprised result, the Germany women team conquer the top seed NETHERLANDS team.
Xu HuaiWen is in a very good form .She has defeated Pi Hongyan in the Quarters and defeated AUDINA TJIPTAWAN Mia in the semi-finals.

Except Yaojie ,I think the Dutch are maybe in too much pressure.

"Kidd's brave Cup bid just fails

NICK KIDD found himself thrown in at the deep end in the Thomas Cup semi-finals in Presov tonight.

The 22-year-old from Avon had to play the deciding rubber against Germany after the doubles wins for Anthony Clark and Nathan Robertson and Simon Archer and Robert Blair made up for the singles defeats of Aamir Ghaffar and Andrew South.

And when the first-punching youngster, who made his debut earlier this week against Modlova, roared into a 9-0 lead against Conrad Hueckstaedt it all looked too good to be true. And it was!

The enthusiastic cries of 'Come on Billy' faced as little by little the world No 41 ignored the enthusiastic support of the whole England squad to rein in Kidd, who is ranked at world No 107.

But it wasn't easy. He had to save four game points before getting ahead for the first time in the match at 15-14.

He went on to take the first game 17-14 but Kidd wasn't giving up without a fight and led 6-3 in the second before the German's greater experience finally tilted the balance.

Kidd needn't blame himself. Certainly his demonstrative, pumped-up style makes him one for the future.

He may even get another chance tomorrow when England face Poland in the third-place play-off which can still book them a place in the finals in Jakarta in May."

From Badminton of England News

Kidd a former Western Australian Junior last played for Australia in 2000 Thomas Cup qualifier in New Delhi. Where Australia in Group B managed to beat Iran , but lost to Singapore, who went on to Group Y and Semi Finals.

That's it, the european qualifiers are known :

in the Uber Cup : Denmark, Germany, Netherlands

in the Thomas Cup : Denmark, Germany, England

German Uber Cup team seems to have been very impressive as they nearly won against Denmark today after beating Netherlands yesterday!!
