it is normal to feel exhausted after long exercise. i too get indigestion after rigorous exercise and especially endurance ones. talking to a physician friend, he says that all the blood in the body ended up fueling muscles instead of the digestive system. thus the food just flows down, esp when aided with the physical movement of the whole body.

to help exhaustion and fatigue for the next day or the same evening, here is a method that many endurance athlete uses. immediately after your exercise, drink something with high sugar/carb content, for example, a can of coke, or sweet orange juice. apparently, within 15 mins after exercise, the body is in this ultra absorptive mode. so it will take in energy rather rapidly and refuel your body. after that 15mins window, it will slow down absorption and it will take more effort to refuel.

try it, it does work.

it needs to have sugar content. gatorade, cider probably, but not water.

Also, when you're already tired, do not over exert yourself even more. When fatigue is constant and always at high levels, it would bring down your immune system majorly

Hi Unregistered,

It sounds like you are recovering from a long-term injury or chronic illness. Sometimes it takes much longer than you expect in order to get back to where you were before.

In terms of your diet, are you on any special caloric intake, or are you a person who can eat anything, eat large portions, and still remain skinny?

After a strenuous & extended baddy session, fluids, salts & minerals, along with carbs (and some protein) and plenty of rest can help you recover. What has been your routine after you finished playing badminton?

It depends on your age too, up to a certain age your metabolism would be really high. There's usually a growth spurt during and after puberty, so don't get too eager to grow up... you might not like the change;). Yes, drink more milk to strengthen your bones and set a solid foundation for later development.

You mentioned in your post that you're skinny and small. I take that to mean you don't have a lot of muscle mass. In that case, you might want to cut back on the frequency of your baddy sessions and make sure you muscles are getting enough rests between your exercise days. When your muscles are overworked / exhausted, they are extremely prone to injuries. You'll just end up hurting yourself all over the place.

There are some energy drinks too with a LOT of sugar. don't forget to drink water after it otherwise your lips are stuck to eachother. Sometimes i drink one when i'm in a big tourney.

I strongly advise you to be careful about how much you exercise.

Some years ago I suffered from a chronic illness for about 6 months - myalgic encephalomyalitis, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome - which left me unable to walk. Gradual rehabilitation through gentle exercise and increasing independent activity speeded my recovery, and indeed promoted an interest in sport that I had never had before. But I had to be very aware of my own limits, or I would suffer a relapse.

You should be patient, and try to build up your fitness gradually but sustainably. It will not do you any good to push your body to its limit - you will make yourself susceptible to injury and your immune system will become vulnerable.

I think you probably want to eat healthy food :)
(less fat meat, veges, milk, eggs, rice......)

And when you are tired, don't push it over limit.
Just go home and do two things:
1. Get on internet and come to BC/BF :p
2. Play some badminton video games or read some badminton books/magazines. :)

That should help a bit! :)

I think it's important to be aware of your own limits. It's always good to push a little bit over your limits but not overboard. You will end up hurting yourself and then probably forced rest ( this is from personal experience)

If you are tired, rest =) Your system needs to rest to strenghten.
Could always alternate activities, such as swimming, jogging, etc.
