Try to contact Cheung Tung of Insksport by email or 'phone 97879118 and join him in his frequent badminton sessions, which are held in the Kowloon area, including the Kowloon Park courts and the nearby Kwun Chung courts. He has taken many badminton forum members to such badminton sessions. The costs come to about HK$50-HK$60 per person for a 3-4 hours session. If you have a lot of time to spare, you can join me in a more out-of-the-way location that requires a good two hours of commute. My sessions are dirt cheap, at less than HK$15 for 2 hours in air-conditioned comfort. :D

Hey there! Nice of you to reply on my inquiry. We are going to stay at Holiday Inn. What is your relation with Cheung Tung? Will you also be there when we plan to play? I'll try to contact him/her(?) when we're already there. We are looking forward to playing in your country. I heard that there are a lot of good players in your place. We are just average Class C players. How about you? Sorry but we will only be staying there for 4 days. What time do you usually play? By the way, we are planning to buy badminton rackets and shoes when we get there. Where do you think will be the best place to buy them? What is your email address?

I live in the New Territories, which is not near the Golden Mile Holiday Inn. Unfortunately, I won't be there if you decide to play with him in the Kowloon Park area. It is just too far out of the way for me. Cheung Tung plays badminton with me periodically. His standard of play is about C. If you want to play with grade A or B players or even ex Hong Kong champions, he can arrange that too. He owns Inskysport and is an OEM supplier of badminton equipment and supplies. If you want to buy racquets and shoes, then he is about the best source.
I suggest you email Cheung Tung at inskysport@yahoo.com.hk re arrangement for a session or two of badminton around Oct. 28-30. I have spoken to Cheung Tung and he is expecting to hear from you.
I will pm you my email address separately.

PrinceTT, Cheung Tung has made arrangements for a badminton night on Friday night, 8-10pm, Oct. 29. Other details in a separate pm to you.
For Machiko, you are welcome to join them. Suggest you call Cheung Tung at 97879118 just to confirm, as Cheung is aware of your interest in joining in the fun.
There will be about 15 players, including 4 from PrinceTT, Machiko and 10 players from Cheung Tung's side, who are grades B and C, possibly including Mr Ng of Luxis sports (grade B).

You and your friend Waiwai8 can contact Cheung Tung by email and ask to join his weekly sessions. You are right about where you live, near the China/HK border, which is a bit too far out of the way to play in Kowloon, the place where Cheung Tung's sessions are held. However, Wai should not find it too inconvenient.

For Waiwai8, that is not possible as Cheung Tung is not a member of this forum and he has confirmed he never pmed you. You must have received a pm from an imposter, so be careful. Please check your end where the purported pm really came from. Cheung Tung's email is inskysport@yahoo.comhk and his 'phone no. is 97879118. He has no pm address at all and neither can he pm you.
For PrinceTT, Cheung Tung has received your email and he knows your real name. I suggest you use your real name when you call him upon your arrival. For added security, you can verify with me by calling me at the two 'phone numbers I have given you separately.

Would you like to have a few sessions with a member of the Guandong Badminton Team, currently on a coaching assignment in Hong Kong? His name is Lau Keen, aged 24, and he is a very fast player. His schedule is tight; but if you are interested, I think I can arrange to have someone sneak you into his sessions where you can play against him and learn and share with him about badminton. Please pm me asap if you are interested, as time is short in view of your arrival Nov.6.

It is really an easy commute between Sau Kei Wan and Kowloon, where the peferred mode of transportation is the MTR (tube). I think it will be worth your trip, as you will get a rare chance to play against a top Chinese provincial player. Please indicate your preferred date, and I will see if it is convenient. Alternatively, would you prefer that Lau Keen fixes a date? Pls advise.

for what it's worth, im a division 1 standard uk player, that may translate to div 10 in chinese badminton standards. lets say 9 Nov? but for him not to expect too much. i think its better to pm from now on.

IMHO a top provincial player of guandong (assuming he is in first team) will be able to easily beat our (England) best national singles level. Even if he was in the second team I would still say he should win.

You should DEFINATELEY make time!

Have fun!

Hi all,

I just wanted to know where i would be able to join a group/club to play badminton in HK. I'll be here for 2 months over the Australian summer holidays. but i'm usu. working Mon to sat but off at night.

I didn't bring a racket back so I have no racket at the moment. but will be considering buying a racket early next month.

if you guys/gals can fit an extra person to play, could you please kindly SMS me or call me on 65300969. I'm living in Lai chi Kok.

Hi Mr Tan, Mr Cheung Tung, Lau Geen and Hanson

Just wanted to say thanks for your hospitality (although unfortunately I didn't see you Mr Tan) throughout my stay in Hong Kong.

As a someone who has played in Hong Kong as a traveller, I would personally recommend contacting taneepak through private messaging (Mr Tan) who will put you in contact with Mr Cheung Tung who both knows about different clubs to play in and is a supplier of badminton goods at a very good rate.

I have attended 2 different clubs and bought 3 racquets off Mr Cheung Tung. For the better players, ask to play with Lau Geen, he's pretty sharp ;) !

Thank you all very much

Wai

Hi WaiWai8, how did your games go? I am sure Ah Tung was no match for you. What about Lau Keen? Did you test him out? Lau Keen may be a good singles player but he is an atrocious stringer. You should see the terrible things he did to his racquets which he strung himself.
Sorry about not meeting you this time. I don't now venture out from Tuen Mun, which is where I live, to go to HK island or Kowloon too often. Glad to hear you had a good time.

No kidding! Even with the West Rail Line, you still have to spend an hour on public transportation from Tuen Mun to HK Island. So you probably get off at Nam Cheong Station and transfer to the Tung Chung Line.

You will speed up the case if you PM.

I had an accident half a year ago and injured my back. I had not fully recovered yet. It might take another 3-6 months. Once I get over, I will continue to learn from my son and his coach.
Hope you have a happy time in HK.

Mui Wo is in Lantau and if you willing to take the long boat commute to Tsim Sha Tsui, I will see if I can arrange for someone to pick you up at the Tsim Sha Tsui jetty for some badminton in Kowloon. Although choice may be slightly limited to arrange for sessions comprising mostly class C players, it can neverthless be arranged. Pls pm me your preferred days and time.

the games went well and i thoroughly enjoyed them. yes i did test lau geen out, in my opinion our speed and agility are very similar also very similar standard. funny, when we were playing together we seemd to cover each other too much coz we're both quick to reocver and cover the other.

anyway thanks a lot nevertheless, when i come back to hk ill contact u again =)

I understand those two kids were shorter than the net. For something easier to handle, you can always join me at Tuen Mun tomorrow (wednesday) and thursday. The wednesday morning group is an all women group-I am a guest-and you should have no problem as their standard of play is rather low. The thursday group is all men, and the standard is at, or slightly above, Ah Tung's level. Pm me if you are interested. Alternatively, you can contact Ah Tung for future sessions. If you have difficulty communicating with him or with his scheduling, feel free to give me a call anytime.
