herovc 04-13-2004, 10:56 PM Hi all,
I just wanna express my true appreciation to the Warranty department in Yonex Canada. If you guys've seen my previous post, I've recently bought a brand new AT500. But after 2 wks of intensive smashing :p , the cone area of my racquet is internally cracked  and some queaking noise appears when you shake the handle back and forth........very unusual huh. Anywaz, the dealer told me to send it myself directly to Yonex Canada for warranty b'coz he said Yonex will pay more attention to individuals then to dealers. So I paid around $10 for a 2 day express with insurance to Calgary and without any phone call or email or contact, I received a package back from Yonex a week later with another brand new At500 in it(they even sent me a new bag when I didn't send them my original). Boy were they fast or what. Anywaz, just wanna share my pleasant experience with my BFers. ;) Hope you guys don't mind me babbling about this small incidence.

Midget_Boy 04-13-2004, 10:58 PM Wow, if I ever get a broken racuqet, I think in a few days mine will be repaired, since I live in Calgary ;).
herovc 04-13-2004, 11:02 PM I guess you can go directly to their building and ask for an exchange in a FEW MINUTES instead. :D
bluejeff 04-13-2004, 11:05 PM That is really great news :)
So, people now will have more confidence on buying Yonex Rackets.
Side1021 04-14-2004, 12:02 AM My experience was quite bad. I sent it back through my local dealer(for $10). And now 4 month later im still waiting. I think it's lost one way or another. I'm going to give them a call soon and see. If they(dealer or yonex) send bunch racquets back and forth, i hope they buy insurance for it.
BTW how did you package your racquet? Im sure i will not send back the racquet through my local dealer the next time.

I guess I woudln't be feeling too good if I were you Side1021. After all, quote from herovc, yonex will pay more attention to the individuals than the dealers. And because it's already been 4 months, it might be too late. :(

I feel bad for you and I think you should bug them more for this is your right to get thing straight.
Anywaz, the local post office help me pack it actually w/ no extra cost. :p Basically, the lady from post office cut out 2 big pcs from the big carton box they have and fold the each of them into "L" shape. Then use masking tape to combine the 2 so that they look like a long box and I simply stuff my racquet in w/ some newspaper in the box and send it w/ an explanation and my contact to the warranty dept. of Yonex Canada.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
grgonium 04-14-2004, 07:31 PM My only problem is i don't have a recipt ... and yonex canada needs one. but i figure, the Amourtech 700 has not been out for 6 months..(or has it??) and why would you need the recipt if the racquet hasnt been out for 6 months yet..(canadian version that is). do you think they will accept without a recipt??? secondly, my coach sent his racquet away through a dealer and they told him 2-4 weeks before he would get it back.(sent away his mp88) so if that is the case, now with the tournaments coming up at school, cant afford to have no amourtech for 2-4 weeks. BTW anyone here in the tournaments on friday???

grgonium,
I did not give my receipt to Yonex Canada.... all I did is to provide an explanation of the problem, where and how long I've bought it and also my own contact (mailing add. and phone # that is) and thats it. The reason I didn't attached my AT500 CD w/ a receipt is b'coz the reception in Yonex Canada has confirmed to me that they don't necessary need the receipt for warranty. If they need, they'll call you and let you know as you can always mail it afterwards.

Hi Yipom,
If I am you, I'll give Yonex a call and see what they would say. If $10CAD shipping is worth giving it a try, why not give it a shot since they'll send you back either a new one or return the damaged one. Here's the phone # and the address (not the P.O. Box one in their homepage) just in case:

Hope this will help!! :)

Side1021 04-23-2004, 01:59 PM I finally finished my exams and gave Yonex a call.
The lady was very nice. She said the last time Yonex Ca sent racquets back to my local dealer was on January 14(2xMP99). They don't have the information on what replaced what so it's up to my local dealer to decide if the racquet is mine or not. I left my phone number cuz she said she will try to dig up more information to help me. Hopefully she can find the letter that attached to the racquet. :(
Side1021 05-07-2004, 01:56 AM Good news!!! The store actually got my replacement from Yonex Ca since mid January. The reason i wasn't able to get it, is because the lady who works there was too lazy to even check it for me. She always say "sending racquets to yonex ca is very problematic please come back in another month" when i was there. I found out by email the store owner and ask her to check it for me instead. I didn't say anything bad about that lady in the email thou.
:D :D :D :D
altreality 05-07-2004, 02:37 AM Trying to exchange a racket here isn't half as pleasant.
Apparently, they ask for a receipt of the purchase and if that shop is not one of "theirs" (agents/or whatever) they will refuse to change it.
Even more importantly, they turn away all parallel imports.
In my case, they told me to go to Yonex Thailand !
cappy75 05-07-2004, 02:38 AM Cool! I just love happy endings:p. Glad to hear things went well for ya, Side1021:).
Side1021 05-07-2004, 03:49 AM That lazy saleswoman made me waited 4 month  Wonder what she was thinking...
I love happy ending as well! hehe :D :D
herovc 05-07-2004, 10:23 AM Good to hear that Side1021.. :)
Enjoy your new racquet :) :)

Well, can't blame them if you are trying to get warranty coverage for TH coded racquets in Singapore. You can also understand why they would want a receipt as SP coded racquets are available over all Asia.

This might seem weird, but the exact same things happened to MY armortec 500. everytime u shake the raquet back and forth, it makes a *clic*clic*clic sound . i thought it was because sometimes i threw my raquet on the ground sometimes (ACCIDENTALLY*), but i guess it's not just that.....

My replacement racquet had the same problem. It start to make the same click click sound after few weeks of play(very noticeable). However Yonex Canada was nice enough to replace that replacement racquet. I didn't have a receipt at that time because it was a replacement racquet and Yonex Ca still gave me a brand new racquet after 10 days(no question asked). Maybe the quality of yonex racquet are getting 'suckier', however their warranty is excellent.
PS. My newly purchased Cab 30MS is having the same "clicking" problem. I wanna see if the problem will get any worse.

My 1st replacement racquet(mp99) developed this clicking sound gradually in like 3 weeks. It starts from very unoticeable to noticeable. However for my
Cab30MS it's clicking sound stays very low and pretty unoticeable, unless im in a very quiet environment or else it's hard to hear. The Cab30MS's clicking sound didn't get any worse and stays like that since the first day.
Im going to string my 2nd replacement today and I hope it won't have that "hard to notice" clicking sound.
PS All my older racquets don't have these problems. But new ones.....
Good luck!
BobbyGeneric 07-06-2004, 01:10 PM Hey Side1021, out of curiousity, which store did you get your MP99 from that it had taken so long to get it back? I'm currently also waiting a long time on a replacement for an MP99, although my problem is that although i had gotten it in Toronto they had a US country code on it so it needed to be replaced from the US, so I'm STILL waiting on a replacement at least 6 months later now. Jeez!

The first replacement is from Lees(6 freakn month!!). However for the second replacement, I sent it myself which I got it back after about 10 days. =) It's Lees fault for taking so long not Yonex Ca cuz they sent it back to Lees in 1 month.
Where did you purchased your MP99?
As for US country code, Yo's told me if there is any problem with my Cab30MS(US coded), I have to bring it to them and they will send it to Yonex US.
Good Luck!

Maybe, ummm, they hope u give up or forget about it, just a guess.
herovc 07-07-2004, 09:37 AM no, i think they usually wait a bunch of defected racquets instead of one to save the shipping cost.

Lol... your ear is very good, and have to say that you really have the "heart" to test it out.
For me, the gym is always crowded, and I doubt I can see/hear anything until the entire head frame flying out. :D

PS Be4 I thought the culprit is the stickiness of the tape that's holding the grip on top, however after i remove the grip and the tape the sound still there.

i got mine from Yo's sports, last time i checked with him was in may 2004 and he said he'd email me if he had any news for it, and i'd given it to him to send in, in november 2003!
on another side note, a separate canadian mp99 i'd sent in got replaced by yonex and sent back to me within 8 business days, very impressive! :)

Maybe you should give a call to Yo's. They probably forgot. And BTW what happend to your MP99s??? Mine had the "click click" syndrome. :D
PS Yah Yonex Ca's warranty service is great.

actually i'm a pretty hard hitter i suppose, and both of them were broken just by hitting the bird on the frame, followed by the frame cracking.
i've also broken another mp99 and an mp77 in the same way :p

fishmilk 02-08-2005, 05:23 PM I TOO TESTIFY THAT YONEX CANADA ROCKS!!! I had a Yonex AT500, and honestly, I ABUSED it...first of all, in the summer, we played badminton almost EVERY day...we got a volleyball net, set it to the right height on our driveway and started playing. It wasn't the greatest, especially on the windy days...but then I was training my younger cousins and there was just no way we could afford to pay for court rentals every day of the summer for 2 or 3 hours. Only downside is, that the floor is PAVEMENT, and being lazy me, I picked up the shuttles no differently, thus my racquet head was VERY VERY scratched up. On top of that, I had about 5 racquet clashes before it got totalled. So it was really no fault of Yonex's. Also, even if it was a new racquet, I doubt it would have survived what happened to my original AT500. Which is, while smashing, I lost grip of the racquet and before I knew it, it hit the floor in front of me, bounced and landed behind me. It cracked at the 11 o'clock position.
So what did I do? I sent Yonex a letter, I told them how many YONEX racquets I purchased before, and that I was very very dissapointed. I sent them my VERY VERY scratched up racquet without my case. 4 days later, I got a call, they told me to fax them my proof of purchase. I faxed them the receipt I got from Yo's, which was HANDWRITTEN... and today, I got a brand new racquet with a new case as well. No questions asked... Only one tiny thing bothered me... This racquet was 4U and my original one was 3U.
I didn't dare send it back again...and anyway, I always thought of the AT500 as a doubles racquet and thus always looked for a singles racquet and eventually bought the MP100 and CAB30MS. I guess a 4U racquet can train my power and be quite useful in doubles. All very very good. Good job YONEX! :D
