I very briefly tried out both versions (offensive & defensive) of the new Yonex AT800 yesterday. A guy in my club ("twobeer" here in the forum) managed to get pre-release racquets from the Swedish Yonex reps. I didn't test them long enough to say much about them, other than that the Defensive version was very agreeable and handled very much like my dear MP-99, and that the Offensive version just felt ridiculously head heavy and stiff -- so much that it threw my timing off.

Anyway, I noticed they were labeled "DP" next to the serial number on the cone. The Yonexes we normally get here are DK version, for the Danish market, and DP is a country code I've never seen before. I was thinking that maybe DP relates to DK just like CP relates to CH/CN versions? In other words, racquets especially selected for the professional Danish Yonex players?

Perhaps it's a new coding system from Yonex - I came across 2 Yonex Armortec 700 AP in last 3 months and thought maybe they got AS and JP mixed up...

Possibly, but I've seen both JP and DK designations on AT700's. Maybe Yonex just wants to inject new fuel into the never-ending country code debate?

The D would stand for Denmark for sure, just as in the DK code. It's the P I don't know. Pro? Player?

Now, we got mystery codes as AP, DP, IP, UP, etc in the past few months. I wonder "a simple mistake" is a valid explaination or not.

If they are demo rackets the P could be "Promotion/Promo or Prototype" if anyone tried to return them they would know automaticlly someone sold or is playing with one they shouldn't be.

I saw Cab 20 SP in Hong Kong,the last 2 digits on the cone is "IP"
It should be products sell to Indonesia...
Price is normal, same as other Cab 20 SP which shows both "SP" on the shaft and cone cap

Since CP and KP are already prooved to be sponsorship rackets for Chinese National Team and Korean National Team.

DP racket is also sponsorship racket for Danish Distributor of Yonex (at least free of charge).

For IP, there are small amount of rackets with SP on shaft and IP on the cone existing. One of the distributor of Yonex in Hong Kong mentioned that it is the sponsorship model for Indonesia National Team. At this moment, nobody can proove it. But I remember one of the BC friends also find that the Indonesia Player using the rackets with SP on the shaft.

So, other than SP and JP, I guess "P" may stand for sponsorship model.

This is my assumption, what are others' comment??

I just got a racket that needed to be restrung, the MP-33, but it has a UP code so I guess it works for all models? :confused:

Yonex accidentally screw up the codes, so the UP is for the US areas.
