erh - to put it another way, I didn't (and don't) think that the NS9K would be 2+* better than the karakal.

I got a new racket only because my old racket (wilson n85) was flexible, and that does not suit my current playstyle.

Thanks Lee, what you've said really confirms what i've in mind. The 2U MP100 is an endangered species!:D

2U MP100 only good for "slam bam thank you ma'am" kind of play. Not suitable for overall play. Worst is defense. Like moving a hammer when trying to counter strike. Just my 2 cents comments. I feel the nano series is much better.

Yes, the model is AR-98 SUPER. And I think it is distributed only in limited countries, like Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, etc.

It is funny that Yonex makes a clone of their own product. I wonder whether someday Yonex will make clones of their racket products too.. who know? :D

From what I heard, it is not Yonex who created the clones. It is Sunrise who created the clones, branded under Yonex. Sunrise relationship with Yonex is such that Sunrise is able to use Yonex brand to create items such as, shoes, rackets, etc.

since you are in Malaysia, why not get Proace/APACS since they are a brand with a Malaysian connection (and also seems to sponsor the Malaysia youth squad). Previous posts say that Proace/APACS are cheapest in malaysia. You can then start another thread on price checklist on racquets in Malaysia. I don't mind going over the causeway to get some Proace :)

seems to me Sunrise releases different weight versions every 3-6 months (approximately)... I understand dealers are not given a choice to choose the weight of their yonex rackets which they ordered...

you could search every badminton shop in singapore or be very patient and wait... even if you manage to find a 3u AT700, the price might not be right for you...

If you are refering to those in JB, Protech Masterpiece is not bad. If you want something cheaper RSL tourney No.1 is also not bad. If you are thinking of buying shuttles in Singapore, then I think Protech PT-10,, AS-30 or AS-40 might fit your bill.

Hmmm... if its in Spore.... fulfil 1 game and cost reasonanble, maybe u can try Space Arrow WS-1 (Silver colour code, Blue and Green are lower grades.)... cost S$20 and IBF approved :eek: which i tink there are no price increment yet, not so sure. :confused: .... available at Ranking, Bras Basar. Tried it before...one of the better shuttles i have tried. :)

U can also check out the Sealion shuttle ( i dun know the exact model, C1101 :confused: , but its a white tube... with black wordings and slight gold colour too).....also around S$20 and i tink IBF approved also....quite a hardy shuttle.... but Space Arrow WS-1 feels abit better.

Hmmm... if its in Spore.... fulfil 1 game and cost reasonanble, maybe u can try Space Arrow WS-1 (Silver colour code, Blue and Green are lower grades.)... cost S$20 and IBF approved :eek: which i tink there are no price increment yet, not so sure. :confused: .... available at Ranking, Bras Basar. Tried it before...one of the better shuttles i have tried. :)

U can also check out the Sealion shuttle ( i dun know the exact model, C1101 :confused: , but its a white tube... with black wordings and slight gold colour too).....also around S$20 and i tink IBF approved also....quite a hardy shuttle.... but Space Arrow WS-1 feels abit better.

So for now...its best if u can ascertain which shop u bought it from.... den find yr original receipt of purchase. In the meanwhile, give a call or email to Sunrise & Co Pte Ltd to enquire about this issue. Coz this seemingly is the manufacturer Yonex's error. Ok i measured both rackets on my kitchen scale.

1 is my cab 21 racquet without strings and with rubber grip. that weighed in a 98g,

then I weighed my mp99 with strings and a towel grip and it weighed 102g.

The mp99 feels heavier tho, anyway what do you guys think?

I got one (type-s) 10 days ago for my friend from Safra (Toa Payoh) @ S$245 with mid-sized bag, any choice of string, racquet bag and very cheap kind of over grip. No perfect unit was left in the following day, when I tried to get for my own. There was one unit having some ugly paints and chip-out.

And I ended up spending S$ 255 in 10N10 (Brabash) as above conditions except without mid-sized bag for Type-S. But I got almost flawless (atleast neat and tidy paint work on racquet).

10n10 would have the NS 9000- but they are likely to tempt you with the other clones...!
No sure about Victor-shoes though - haven't seen them there! But if you are in Bras Basah - there are 2 other stores in the complex you can go browse and check prices before you buy...

I think the victor VT-81 shoes is available at Artric Sports, Sembawang Shopping Centre. If you're willing to travel to the north of Singapore, perhaps you can call Artric Sports @ 67536486 when you arrive and check on the availability of your shoe size as well as the 3ug4 NS9000X.

during the recent aviva open, Sunrise released 'new' models of Yonex shoes eg. SHB68 (blue/grey), SHB65. As you may not be aware, these models have actually been discontinued in other countries. Actually depend on the way you play ......... if you an expert, any racket will do .......... if you only low level beginner, even expensive racket can not help.

I saw Fleet racket at Classics Toa Payoh SAFRA at SGD 99 for 2 pieces incl. string Yonex BG65 and Grips (2 in 1 price) and bag.

you may buy brand HART also at Classics for less than SGD85 also (1 piece only) incl. string, grip n bag.

Apacs brand also have .......... e.g. NanoPower 9000 also less than SGD80

so just go there and ask .........

Just go straight to classic at toa payoh for the best deals in singapore.....Nanopower 9000 is not too bad...rather stiff racquet though...

If its old stock with yellowish feather i thikn its possible at 28sgd. The new shipment since march cannot be priced at 38 anymore. Yonex quotation per 1000s is at 30.78 at cost price exclu GST. SO I think they have to sell at least 32 or 33 just to make 1 sgd. AS 40 new batches also cost sgd 28 at least. FYI, all other brands which are selling at 23 or 24 since the bird flu problem that cause the shortage of feathers, please becareful about them.

Yonex raise the price because they have stuck with Goose Feathers. However, other brands have only increase only 1 or 2 sgd. The reason is beacuase they have took up the manufacturers option of using duck feathers instead of goose feathers and using a lousier and cheaper cock screw and make in China gel instead of Make in Japan gel for their shuttlecocks.

At the market right now, its impossible to get high end quality and lasting shuttlecock without having to pay at least $26 and above.

As the saying goes, "Quality Comes with a Price".

I recently took in 50 tubes of *T-10 and find their quality absolutely atrocious when compared to their last shipment. They same gose to S**tec Classics. The shuttlecock spins in the air like a tornado during the Lensmen Inter Club League tournament as it is one of the sponsors.....

Just a reminder that getting a good quality shuttle cock will save you more as you change the shuttle less often. 1 shuttle that cost you around 2.50sgd each save your more when you have to change 2 shuttle at 2sgd each. Total savings = 1.50 each time. ;)

yes.. of course it is genuine :D SP version got 3 years warranty and it's 1 to 1 exchange. I'm not sure about TH racket bought in Singapore. I heard people said that SP version is more durable, but personally, I do not think so. For performance, it is exactly the same (based on my experience)

TH versions are definately more fragile. Experienced stringers (Toa Payoh Safra, etc) told me there is a difference when they string the same tension on JP, SP and TH rackets.

I used to have quite a few JP, SP and TH rackets so I could tell there's even a slight diff in stiffness/weight distribution etc.

No it's not Chau Beng, it's another shop that's obscure from view. If you walk towards Chau Beng, turn left in front of the shop and continue all the way straight. You should find the other shop.

Yeap it's owned by an Indian. Mustafa patronize this store rather frequently if I'm not wrong so if you mention Mustafa's name you may get better discount? :p They're one of the few shops that quote you a no nonsense price (well.... usually).

Went to Jurong Point Sportslink. $229.90 is the retail price. The discounted price is about $150 if i recall correctly.

visited few sport shops, 10N10 Sports at Bras Basah, Sportlinks, Royal.
Found that 10N10 quotying the cheapest for At700 (SGD200), the rest are quoting SG249 (b4 10% discount). din have time to visit Chau Beng.
The shop assistant, a young chap, at 10N10 is quite friendly, explained a fair bit info on the shoe as I was looking for one. Was interested in SHB99 Limited but selling SGD149. After conversion, most badminton equipments are still cheaper than here in Kuching (sarawak, m'sia). Worth buying.

Hi grange...i do happen to have a 3UG5 pre Nov'04 Ti10... its considered slight head-heavy ...in fact it feels quite similar to a 3UG5 Mp99 (around S$180) which i also have... Absolutely love using both of them... :D The new Ti10 (S$160) i got hit it a few times.....its definitely feels head-light.... but its very fast for defense and clearing seems effortless somehow. But sure lacks the edge in terms of smashing and driving power compared to old Ti10 especially those pre Nov'04 batch which are head-heavier and stiffer. ;) But the Pros have no problems switching to the new Ti10.... eg FHF, KKK, XZB etc...as i said...they are PROS. :o I will suggest a MP99 for u...since its only S$20 more expensive.... but different pple different preferences. :p At700 i dun like...coz felt too head-heavy for me. :(
