GALA sports queensway shopping center at900p/t $250...at250 $88...at500 $160

In Hong Kong, the Yonex AT900 is going for HKD 1,130.
That's just SGD 209
And what's bizarre is that the region is SP :(

Strangely enough, the AT250 is HKD 540 (SGD 99)

In fact, I was hunting for the AT300.
And I did find one in a store at Sheung Wan :)

What surprised me was its price - HKD 900 (SGD 166)

When I protested, pointing out that it was over two years old, the store manager hit back by saying he could sell it at that price even 20 years from now :o

Well, you don't argue with people who are that certain

hey guys:

everyone says that the rackets in singapore is cheaper. I happen to have a friend there right now and i am looking to purchase a racket something like AT900 or NS9000 or even a MP99. How much cheaper is it compared to North American prices? My friend visited RSH and Bras something and said that the prices are comparable to here (AT900 and NS9000 are at $260 SGD range). Is he just going to the wrong places or are you all referring to the saving on the tax money? Please let me know thanks.

SGD260(~USD183) is the average price here for SP coded AT900 and NS9K. not sure about tax if you hand carry back to US though.

I just bought the new Ti-10 at Ranking Sports @ Bras Basah at SGD 160. Is it expensive ? Anyway it comes with BG-66 and tension at 23 lbs. 10 & 10 is selling at 180 and I couldnt bargain for less. But what surprises me is that 10 & 10 is selling Arcsaber7 at SGD275 whereas Ranking at SGD305! Prices are before bargaining.

FYI there's a new sports shop at Lesiure Park Kallang (near Singapore Indoor Stadium) on the 2nd floor. The name of the shop is Racket Sports Asia and I understand it was opened about a month ago. You will find mostly tennis stuff but there are also badminton and squash products. Electronic restringing is also available.

For badminton, the shop carries a range of badminton shoes, clothing, shuttles and rackets (Victor, Apacs and Yonex). Interestingly I saw two new Yonex models - a Yonex Muscle Power Limited Edition (Made in Japan) racket and a Yonex Muscle Power Tour Edition (Developed by Yonex Japan) racket. The prices are S$169 and S$99 respectively before discount.

The person running the show is John, whom some of you may find familiar as he used to work at Queensway and 10n10.

PS. There is also an on-going Nike sale at Sportslink on the ground floor.

In KL the list price is RM326.99, depending how much discount the seller willing to give. Usually 0%-20%. If you are regular the discount can be up to 20%. Racquet come with Gut, Grip & low-end Bag.

I was in this shop waiting for my racket to be strung, and 1 person ask for a quote on AT700 and he was quoted $10 more than what the shop quote me before he came (30mins difference), the shops like to jack up the price so must bargain abit, maybe you can try gala or the 3 storey store (chua beng something) in queensway if you stay near west.

i think regarding racket prices, everyone must understand that within the last 2 months, prices have gone up. Doesn't necessarily mean that the same racket will be cheaper now than say in December 2007, just because it a bit older.

None of the salespeople have a clue about the Armortec 700 :(

"We have Yonex"
"Is it a racquet with many colours?"
"We have a promotion for Wilson."

Such replies don't encourage enquiries over the phone :o

hahaha, i guess these guys aren't really sports-minded people, just general staff, so expecting them to distinguish between different yonex models might be asking too much. i figured their stock might be computerised though, so that they can do a search to see if there are any in stock. this might also be wishful thinking.

queensway shopping centre has 4 (correct me if im wrong) shops selling badminton rackets and stuff like that so u may want to try it out. theres sports interlink(big brother of sportslink), gala, chau beng and one shop owned by a few indians(cant rmb the name). that said, i dont recommend shopping for rackets at sportslink. even with discounts, they still dont offer deals as good as the other shops mentioned above

10&10 is located at bras basah complex, together with another shop called ranking sports n music (again correct me if ive got the shop name wrong). both offer decent prices as well

I looked at the timing of our posts and there's only 3 mins in between. Probably you were reading his post while I posted mine.... that's probably why you missed my post. :D

calvino,

try queensway shopping center in singapore. It is one of the easiest and cheaper place to buy. however, visit a few more shops, compare the price before buying. The price should be less then or around SGD270 assuming that it is not more expensive then a ARC10. (The price for arc10 is around SGD270)

(I've added a couple of telephone numbers)

One word of advice - call ahead for availability and price
That will save you a lot of time, extra taxi charges and the hassle of bargaining ;)

classic sports clearing yonex tops @ S$10 each. limited designs/sizes.

there is a yonex clearance corner outside the main branch of mustafa centre. very limited stocks of polo t-shirts (very flashy designs imho) are going for S$9.90, shorts (they look like bermudas) S$7.90, junior shorts $4.90, JP track pants/suits (very very old designs) S$16.90 onwards.

10n10 @ bras basah complex ground level are clearing selected designs of yonex polo shirts @ S$14.90 each. Buy 4 get 1 free! which means if you buy 5 pieces, each piece cost S$11.92.

Hi, this is my 1st post so not sure if its ok to put down the actual pricing. Here is the rough pricing as I went racket hunting 2 weeks back in Bras Basah. Eventually bought a Ti-10

Ranking Sports
Ti-10 (only yellow) ~ S$170 + (no yonex case but bag that can fit 3 rackets)
MP99 ~ S$190 +
Carbonex 30 (think I seen only but never notice the price)

10&10
Ti-10 (yellow or purple only 1 each then) ~ S$180 +
MP99 ~ S$190 +

So its up to your bargaining skills. Cheers.

I would highly recommend Queensway Shoppping Centre (i prefer the first storey) as i believe the shops there give reasonable pricing and there are quite a lot of sport shops which you can research on before buying your product. Also i'd recommend you to walk around a few times to fina a shop that offers the cheapest. (note! If it's too cheap then it MIGHT be an imitation racket) Arcsabers should sell more than S$200 (approx >S$250) and if you come across a shop that sells it at more than $300 maybe you should find another that is cheaper.

Have fun :D
