Any tips as to what is the best way to imrpove the smash from the baseline? Mine seems to lack the power and the speed, hence it looks like it's floating.

You need to hit it flat. Open your racquet head up just a little, not too much - experiment and see the results.
: Any tips as to what is the best way to imrpove the smash from the baseline? Mine seems to lack the power and the speed, hence it looks like it's floating.

You can practice jump smash to get the shuttle to go down more steeply. May have to comprise on power to get the timing. BUT the steeper smash will be less likely to give away the attacking opportunity (even with less power) and then you can prepare to smash on the next lift which may be shorter and then give yourself a better winning position
Cheung

: You need to hit it flat.
