I'm just curious, i have a a favourite player as well as pair such as Hendrawan and used to be Candra/Tony, now its Candra/Sigit and Tony/Halim...... However, there are players that i dislike too....... Such as Pullela Gopichand. I don't like this guy as i find that hes got some certain "thing" about him that annoys me....... no particular reason.......

Any players you people out there dislike? Or to put it crudely, hate?

er... no particularly dislike a player even if he is Gopichand. but i hate his altitude when he is playing. If i am his oppoonent, i will break his head with amy racquet. I love watching him trick his player but not when he give the kind of idiot look when he wins. Overall i do not hate anyone. But according to May, she say that there will be a large overall that dislike Camilla Martin. I dun know but maybe she is just a sore loser. It is the altitude !!

but c martin has a certain charm/charisma abt, her which compensates for her unsportingness/ sore-loserness.
p. gopichand....true when he wins the aura he exudes makes me cringe.

i don't find his face zombie-like nor that of xuanze. u have to understand their background, how they were brought up , what they have undergone etc.
as long as they r not hideous, shd be ok with me.
the main thing i look for in a player is his/her performance........ is it thrilling? is it magical? can he/she win consistently?....these are the more important traits......

I have no problems will all the players except Camilla Martin. She even tried to ban Chinese players from playing....what a sore loser.

the only players i hate are cheaters, calling my line shot out, net shot not over the net when it was and point padding their score. :(

i agree with Tony, if you can't beat them in the court, stick your tail between your legs and run home instead of barking louder over the fence.

It's fun being a line judge at high school tournaments though..you wouldn't believe how I call out shots...I would be like.."OUT!!!!!!!!"...let's just say it eliminates questioning and the whole damn gym can hear you.

I like Zhao Jian Hua. I was surprised that this guy is very friendly. He is like a kid, always smiling, compared to Yang-Yang who seems very mature and more serious. I met and traveled with both of them during their tour in the US for the Masters Game. Zhao likes to play around. His game is fun to watch. He likes to trick people and makes the spectator laughs. Yang-Yang, on the other hand, is a little more serious. However, YY plays more consistently compare to Zhao. However, Zhao plays badminton like he was born with the talent. He is just incredible and funny.

lol. yeah i knw wut u mean though. i was line-judge the other day, i saw the damned shuttle going out, and the idiotic coach said i was wrong, i told him i was the line-judge. so finally, a classmate told me to shout instead of speaking it loudly, it worked, too well.

Yah,

my all time favourite player. In my opinion he's the epitome of the game personified.

He is now in Singapore, coaching. Very affable fella according to a friend who works at the SBH.

His wife Wu Wenjing, former China ladies doubles player, sister of former men's 3rd Singles Wu Wenkai is also here. but haven't seen her though.

No wonder wenkai play style is so similar to Zhao Jian Hua.

Just found out not too long ago that he's a close family friend of my church pal. Helped out at her paternal grandfather's funeral. So nice.

Byronenium and Wins-Gan

.....I saw the German Open last year. Gopichand lost in the final to XX. But he was given the award for most popular player for his Gentlemanly (if there exists such a word) attitude (or altitude if you prefer) and fair play.

It's easy to say you dislike someone for a certain something (that you don't exactly know) or for the look on his face, especially when he is kicking butts of your countrymen/people you like....... Grow up guys!

In Ae final 2001, a shot by Gopi was called out when it was

clearly in.All Gopi did was point with his hand in direction of

line the line, and looked at umpire and just carried on.I think

many others would have thrown a tantrum.

Agreed, one should not judge a person from video tapes or gossips.

.. how can u hate a player jus based on what they look like ?

mabye how they act, speak, or their attitude or something .. not that though ;(

i dont' think u can strongly like or dislike anyone untill you know them a little better than that.

Just read an article on Gopichand at worldbadminton.net under the feature section. Quite touching. Also the one on Candra/Sigit. Go give it a read.

She never did that !!! - why would she ? - not our style her !
Stop this BS, please - we admire your players , at least
try and respect ours, even thought it may be difficult for you :)
