Ticket on sale 15 months prior to the event??? I think I might need to wait for another several months (hope not going to sold out) to carefully plan my activities.

Well, I doubt I can attend all 9 days, but the last 4-5 should be my best bet. BFers gathering, sure... ;)

Whatever the price is, for 9 days, it is cheaper than going to Disney land per day.

I support the gathering for BFers and how about a mini tournament for the BFers at the same time period? Let's play in the morning and cheer in the evening. So BFers live in LA area, please suggest where we can play?

Your best bet is OCBC(Orange County Badminton Club). It's right down the street from Anahiem Pond, where the WC is going to be held at. OCBC ranked the highest to be the best gym in the country dedicated to badminton.

Hopefully I'll be getting tickets this weekend! Sounds like it's gonna be loads of fun :D

I thought the tournament goes from, the 15-21st which is 7 days.

It is not nine days, it is nine sessions.

there are two sessions on the 19th and 20th august, respectivley.

What I find funny is that they have set aside a whole session for the WD finals!! 4 and a half hours! do they know something we dont, gotta be a classic match! :D

then they schedule 5 hours for all the other finals.

gathering for sure!

tournament maybe, i will be happy enough if we can get together and play for fun instead of a tournament. we will feel like nobody after we watch the WC, us "competing" would be a joke in comparison. :)

but really look forward to it.

I think this is Kwun's way of subtly saying, that he'd quash us in play and doesn't want to make us look bad ;)

i also wonder about the same thing. less fun if they are assigned seatings then fans cannot sit and yell together. or BC/BF'ers cannot sit together.

i will plan to make a BadmintonCentral.com banner. that will be cool!

i wonder how quickly the top prices tickets will be sold out?

kwun, I think you should just reserve the entire top prices section for the BFers before it's all gone, so we can all sit together. After all, that's what most of us is living for, it's so worth it! :D

Anaheim is about 1.5hr drive, north of SD, right next to OCBC. But nothing can stop me from badminton, wa ha ha ha.

BTW, Kwun, after watching the games, we will continue our badminton all nighter tridition either in MBBC or SGVBC, and try to play like the pros, ok?

If you want, you can go up with us and we'll have a grand ole time (I'm only in Arizona for school, currently home in San Diego for the summer and will stay here for grad school next year). If any other BF members want to get the $189 blue section tickets just let me know and we'll hit the stands together :)

The stadium looks good. I just realised if Badminton takes off big time in the US, you have loads of stadiums like these used for basketball matches. They are the perfect size. Can you imagine having the number of professioanl clubs in basketball-but having them as badminton clubs. That is an ultimate, ultimate dream of mine. Imagine it, i get so excited, it would be heaven!!!

How many courts will it have??

will they play all matches there, or will they play some preliminary and early rounds at another venue?

Just wondering when I should reserve my tickets. Of course, I know to be safe, right now is best :D .

However, with heavy work load, it's extremely hard for me to plan something that is 15 months away. :( I don't want to reserve the tickets now, then find I could not even get a day off during that time.

I am thinking about reserve tickets in early 2005 time frame (say, march 2005?). Will that be way too late??? I am not very experienced on this, HELP!!!

My dad already put in tickets for the $189 section. I think he requested we be seated in the 207 or 209 sections. If we all end up not sitting together, we can always just get together after matches and have a BF part-ay! :p

Since the tickets for O5 Worlds will be on sale for a very long time, does it make sense to buy the tickets now? The official website says that priority tickets will be sold until September 15, and then it will be available to everyone. Is there any difference between the two because anyone can buy the tickets now, its not like someone is getting priority.

OTFK
09-14-2004, 04:16 PM
I have ordered the tickets and they have charged my c. card. However, they cannot tell me my exactly seating until the ticket is printed. For those who are buying the 7 days ticket (I think they call that Priority ticket), you will get the same seat for all 7 days.
The spectator travel package is posted. The Marriott Anaheim Hotel offers transport to/from airport (I am guessing John Wayne Airport) and to/from the venue, and daily breakfast. For those who live in the area or have done some checking, is that a good price?
When I called in early Sept 04, they still have lots of ticket available. I know several people are waiting for them to sell the individual day ticket. However, no new update on when will those be available.
Apparently, this World Championship is not well advertised yet in Canada (as I just send the link to Manitoba Badminton Association). I heard there will be a few people from Ontario, Canada making the trip as spectator.

So, how many from the forum are definitely will be there?

According to the venue policy (see below),
"Arrowhead Pond Building Policy

Building policy prohibits guests from bringing in large bags, backpacks, coolers, wrapped packages, weapons, laser pointers and video or audio recorders. These items should be left in the guest's vehicle; any guests who attempt to enter the arena with any of the prohibited items will be asked to return them to their vehicle. Still cameras are allowed for many events; however, lenses are not permitted to be longer than 6 inches. The building policies are located on the web site www.arrowheadpond.com."

Does that mean the event is recorded and DVD will be available?

Strip ticket will be going on sale at Ticketmaster.com on Sept 21. It seems the most expensive one is $30 and the lowest is $8.

$30/day x 7 days = $210 for the whole tournament. Cheaper than the $289 package deal. Or am I missing something here?

SteveStanley
09-21-2004, 11:51 AM
It's actually 7 days but 9 sessions, so 9 x $30 = $270, still cheaper than $289. But, are you sure the $30 ones are the same as the $289 ones? Maybe not.

I believe you can still get most of the info via 05worlds.com FAQ section.

Ticketmaster.com is the one that you can buy ticket now but they are only selling 7 days package. Arrowhead Pond will not confirm when will the individual day/session ticket be available.

ticketmaster has the dates listed wrong, but they are correct on the tickets.

there are 9 sessions broken down as printed on the tix as follows:

mon 8/15: prelim's 9am-10pm

tue 8/16: prelim's 9am-10pm

wed 8/17: 32's 9am-10pm

I called ticketmaster yesterday and found out $289 is sold out !

Is $189 a good consideration ? I never been to ArrowHead pond, so not sure if $189 offers good seating.

By the way, what so special about $289 sections ? Given choice, will you take $289 back rows or $189 front rows ?

>Is $189 a good consideration ?

yes!

>I never been to ArrowHead pond, so not sure if $189 offers good seating.

it's right next to the $289 section.

>By the way, what so special about $289 sections ?

they are the equivalent of sitting centre court of the closest section during a basketball game.

http://www.arrowheadpond.com/seating_chart.cfm?displayPage=inc_seating_basketba ll.cfm

there are only two $289 sections; 208 & 222.
the $189 sections are 205, 206, 207, 209, 210, 211, 219, 220, 221, 223, 224, 225

>Given choice, will you take $289 back rows or $189 front rows ?

i'd take $189 front row, but i'm not sure if they're still available. my tix came for section 223, 12th row :D when i placed my order on 9/24/04.

good luck

I got 2 tickets for section 221 yesterday, kind of disappointed not able to get section 223 or any sections to the right of $289. I feel sections to the right of $289 are the best locations because there are more courts set up towards the right of the stadium. I hope the finals will be playing on center court (in front of $289). Otherwise, I got a bad deal :crying:

What should I be doing?i bought my ticket from ticketmaster ..and has received actual ticket....first i thought it is a pass than i can able to go in and out at anytime.....but found out it is actual ticket :(

this is what i heard from another guy i play with weekly... he called the ibf folks, who said:

for those who ordered directly from http://www.05worlds.com/ and had their credit cards charged, your tix will arrive 2 weeks prior to the event.

that's all i know for now.

I just check the 05worlds.com, there is some new tickets showing up. They are called VIP ticket. They are not cheap ~ US$200 each. They are only available for Session 7, 8, and 9. For all 3 sessions will be ~ US$600.
I just called Arrowhead Pond, and they said these are courtside seating. I am guessing the seat will be 20 ft away from the court. They are still working on the detail of these VIP tickets such as restaurant access, special perks, etc.
I think they will post more info on the website once all the details are finalized.
I am thinking courtside interference :D to cheer for your favourite player. Or, tatoo by the birdie. I wonder whether they will remove you from the seat if one causes too much problem.

See you all in WC.

Are all the tickets (individual sessions, strip tix etc..) available at the box office? Is there no surcharge etc. if they are purchased at the box office? I was wondering if it makes sense to have someone go to the box office and try to purchase them?

Because of schedule conflict, I and my friends cannot attend a few days in the competition. I have premium seats (Based on what I see on the chart, these seats are very close to the center of the action. You can check the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim seating chart to confirm)

I am selling these individual event tickets (Section 206, Row A) for less (at least 30% less) than Ticketmaster (who is charging $30 + service charge + shipping for such seats). I am not selling the tickets at a profit (in fact, I am not including the service fee charged against me).

I have three sequential seats (three sets of tickets). The prices are already discounted (my loss, your gain) and I will consider reasonable offers.

----------------------------------
Ticket 1: Section 206 Row A
Monday event: $21
Tuesday event: $21
Wednesday event: $21

If you buy all three tickets, I'll sell at a bigger
loss--$54 only for very good seats. Ticketmaster will
charge you $90 + service charge + shipping for such seats.

Reasonable offers will be considered.

----------------------------------
Ticket 2: Section 206 Row A
Monday event: $21 each
Tuesday event: $21 each
Wednesday event: $21 each
Thursday event: $21 each

If you buy a set of four tickets, I'll sell at a
bigger loss--$72 only for a very good seat.
Ticketmaster will charge you $120 + service charge + shipping for
such seats.

Reasonable offers will be considered.

----------------------------------
Ticket 3: Section 206 Row A
Monday event: $21 each
Tuesday event: $21 each
Wednesday event: $21 each
Thursday event: $21 each

If you buy a set of four tickets, I'll sell at a
bigger loss--$72 only for a very good seat.
Ticketmaster will charge you $120 + service charge + shipping for
such seats.

Reasonable offers will be considered.

----------------------------------
Biggest loss for me, but BEST DEAL for you: If you buy
all 11 tickets, I'll give you the lot for only $190.
Ticketmaster will charge you $330 + service charge for
such seats.

Reasonable offers will be considered.
