View Full Version : yonex blacken
charzord 05-28-2004, 10:20 PM im wondering if theres a demand for yonex blackens, and how much they are? i was scrounging around my basement and found 5 of these rackets, cosmetically not that good, missing a couple grommets, strings broken, but true to its name, these rackets just dont break :p :p :p .......anyways, just asking
DinkAlot 10-11-2005, 12:18 PM Do you still have these rackets? I maybe interested. :D

u becoming like peter lsd, heavy hitters :D
charzord 10-11-2005, 02:22 PM Yes i do.......3 or 4....have to check :p....but u might need to replace grommets, and paint chips all over the place, but absoloutely no struntural damage.........its impossible for these thigns to have structural damage anyways :D. The paint chips are mainly because of the logn time in storage, not from playing. Flaky paint?

all blacken are subject to paint flaking off from shaft. Paint & stainless steel dont go together well.

not 100% true. blacken have metal framed head and if you have broken strings left on them for so many years, the frame might have deformed permanently. i have had a blacken II in the very very old days when the stringer mis-weaved a couple of strings. the frame skewed after a few weeks and never went back to normal again.
scchang 10-11-2005, 02:50 PM That's correct. When I used Blackens, the paint on the shaft went off and I had the rackets having black frames and cones with the shining shafts. It looked kinda like those cheap iron/steel rackets tho. :-P
Back to the topic, how much do you think reasonable? I am not a collector, and therefore cannot tell you anything as a reference.

I was practicing smashing with my Coach and went back and forth between my 2U Ti10 and 4U AT800-OF and after a while, he replied, in Chinese, "Use the heavy racket, forget the light one." :p
Afterwards, I played a few games with people I didn't know well but knew they were prone to clashing rackets so I used the Blacken and was surprised I played decently well. So I figure a few more Blackens can't hurt. :)

There should be a store in Tuen Mun, Hong Kong asking for HK$160 (around US$21). Since I have not visited this store for 2 years, so I don't know it is still alive or not. :D
charzord 10-17-2005, 08:20 PM Anyone still want them? Im gonna throw them back in my basement if no one wants them anymore =)

BTC2004 11-19-2005, 06:04 PM They are good racquets, I still have two blacken, great condition, one strung to 26#+ with YY BG65 and the other unstrung. For heavy hitters, it is quite ideal.Maybe I should try them out again:rolleyes:
