Does anyone have one of these on CD that they could convert to MP3 and make available?
Or could someone generate an MP3 with bleeps at the appropriate times?

I couldn't bring myself to spend money for one (even if it is 5 times longer than John Cage's silent work). Before I attempt a DIY version, I wonder if anyone out there has a copy.

Thats a good link Neil thanks, let us know how you get on with it :)

The bleep test is useful for measuring personal improvement of the vo2 max component but is not valid for absolute measurement of fitness for badminton.

A similar test which Henman uses is outlined on the bbc website and doesn't need a cd:

Mark out a 20m shuttle run. Complete as many repitions in 1 minute as possible. Rest a min. Repeat the above 5 times. Record total scores.

uhhhhhhh.........what is this bleep test? i know at cadets, we have this excersice where we have to run 20 meters in between each bleep played from a cd, and the bleep's would get faster and faster until you have to sprint from one side to another.....is this the same thing?

Actually there's two types of beep test, one is continuous running, back and forth. The second type is in terms of levels and you get to stop between each level as it goes up. Luckily we only have to get to 7.5 to pass fitness assessment.

This is the same thing.
Also known as the Multi-Stage Fitness Test.
Run 20 metres back and forth at an increasing pace.
Each level lasts for 1 miinute
Level 1 begins at a pace of 8.5 km/hour
each level is 0.5 km/hour faster than the previous

disappointingly, only 11.2 but I reckon I've got 12/13 in me
not bad for an old overweight asthmatic though.

While looking for an mp3 of the bleeps, I ended up on a UK Police website.
quote "Policing has never been an easy occupation. As a police officer you will be expected to perform a number of physically demanding tasks on a daily basis, for this you will need to possess a certain level of fitness."

They use a 15m track and the pass level is 5.4 (3.5 minutes of work)
