There should be fewer group tournament and more individual tournament.
If you guys notice in Tennis, most of the tournament are individual tournament, the tennis players like Andre Agassi, Pete Sampras, etc., are fighting / playing hard for their own individual sake.

They don't represent their countries, so there is less burden and beaurocracy involved. It will also expose the player figure more compared to country-based tournament.

Imagine we have the Pete Sampras of badminton - Taufik or Chen or Peter ??

The same for doubles, we would have a favorite double pairs if we have more individual tournament.

This will in turn bring in more money/sponsor to badminton and gain more exposures in the world stage and TV.

i think the amount of group matches are ok. most of the international tournaments are individual matches, the only non-individual ones i know are Thomas, Uber, Sudirman and Asia Cup... (anything else?)

I think players are associated more with their country of origin in badminton than tennis. Its probably because there are not a lot of countries that participate in the sport (internationally).
