I am in contact with 604badder who is proposing to allow some access to a server for badminton videos.I have a large collection which I would like to share however I need to digitize them from the videotapes they are on.Anybody like to help out? I live in the Burnaby area and all I ask is to get copies on cds for 604badder and myself.You can private message me if you wish.

So just to follow up on what bighook mentioned here, we need someone with access to a video capture card on their computer to help us digitize the tapes, and have either: 1) a DVD burner so we can efficiently move it to the server or 2) have a highspeed network connection to deliver it to the server.

Of course this doesn't have to be just one person. If you have the equipment but don't want to spend a whole week doing this (I mean look at bighook's massive collection!), then just volunteer to do one tape at a time. Little or a lot, we need your help everyone :o We'll give full credit on the board here to all who helps out with the process.

Wish I could help. Really. But with a K6-400MHz from 8 years ago, it'll probably take me upwards of one- to two weeks to digitize one game. :D

I have heard some local camera/film stores have this kind of services......at least that's what it is in Taiwan.


The cost....I am not sure about that. You might want to give them a call and find out the cost. If it's not too expensive, I say go for it. :)

i am not in vancouver, but i have a mpeg2 encoder board as well as a DVD burner. the encoder is old but seems to work ok.

i hope there are ppl in vancouver who'd be able to help. otherwise i will try to see what i can do from my side.

Now this just tempts me to plonk down $600 or so for that DVD recorder that London Drugs is selling.

Anyone have experience with this? Can you hook up the VHS RCA out jacks into a DVD recorder and do the conversion like that?

Yes...I have an audio/video controller (preamp) that could do the switching and listening to source or the recording. It is capable of RCA and or S VHS inputs and outputs plus midi in/out.

I have P3-550Mhz with an ATI ALL IN WONDER card.
Also I have a AMD-1000 Mhz with a ATI Radeon VIVO (VIDEO IN VIDEO OUT) card.
I do not know anything about digitizing tapes. Do you think my systems can handle the digitizing?
