I was just wondering...I've been to other forums such as soccer etc. and at times it's pretty amazing how much vulgarity is displayed on those forums. People abuse each other to the core, and subject headings can be quite offensive or rude! There are quite many exceptions, but those of you who may have been to other forums may know what I'm talking about. The battle between supporters of a team can be quite a scene!

The forums here seem much more pleasant. People are polite in their remarks and the overall "atmosphere" is a friendly, helping kind.

So whats the reason?

Are badminton players generally more pleasant and calm people than those who play, say soccer? Is it because of the fact that we here are not supporting a team per se so we dont have the chance to make sly remarks on other teams? Or am I just thinking about something that isnt even an issue?

let me elaborate byro statement.

unlike basketball and hockey, we badminton players cannot touch, grab or crash into post and net without penalty or faulting

no physical contact with opponents until after the match

no kicking of shuttles, no swearing, no making funny faces.

Is this why badminton is not popular as basketball and hockey?

No..it's cause Americans view badminton as a backyard sport where they just hit the birdie back and forth. They don't understand the intense action. Remember that basketball guy my friends and I stuck all the time? He now has respect for badminton..it's all good.

Some contributers on this forum have unfortunately tried to degenerate the forum into unconstructive name calling and accusations. Luckily, most of the other people have been by and large sensible in their replies.

Okay, I admit I haven't been doing too well myself, sparking off a series of Thomas Cup "riots" with a rash declaration to hack off my head and limbs. And I admit I went a bit too far in my judgment of Camilla Martin by calling her a sore loser. Actually she behaved quite nicely during the S-Cup and I do feel a bit bad on her behalf, regardless of what I've said earlier on.

So to anyone whom I've offended, accidentally or not (including David, for translating Imposter's msg, even though I've still got a score to settle with you... LOL), here's a big fat SORRY.

Apologise to rude people who insult you in a language you

can't understand? Who commit all sorts of atrocities in their

home and every where they go?Maybe aplogise to PC and bug

also?There is only so much a sane normal person can tolerate.

No need to apologise, it should be the other way round.
