Subject: Line judges for IBF world Championships 2005 (Los Angeles)

For the 2005 World Championships to be held in Los Angeles, USA, IBF are looking to appoint 10 international line judges.

You are invited to forward nominations, in order of preference, for line judges to officiate at the World Championships 2005. A reserve list of line judges will be produced for use in case of non-availability etc. Nominations should be forwarded to Tina Jones (tinaj@intbadfed.org) at the IBF Secretariat as soon as possible and by Friday 10 September 2004 at the latest.

Nominated line judges must be experienced in officiating at the highest level of badminton, and you must supply the full names, date of birth, and information on the experience of anyone you nominate. You must also confirm that nominees are currently in good health. Only nominated candidates that fulfil such criteria will be considered for selection.

The appointed line judges must attend the whole of the World Championships (arriving 14 August and departing 22 August 2005). All appointed line judges must meet their own travel costs (or be assisted by their National Association). However, shared accommodation and meals will be provided by the organisers.

Successful candidates will be notified, via Member Associations, once the selection process is complete.

Only 10 line judges? So sad.. I was thinking of being one of the many but there are only 10 of them. Too bad..

Only 10?

There are 10 line judges per court in addition to the umpire and net judge.

Must be a small venue that only has one court. ;)

Taking into account how the issue of linejudges at OG was handled, I think that total number of linejudges to be appointed for WC should be at least 80 people.

Ten of them will be nominated by IBF (through the official application as stated above) and the rest will be "provided" by the organiser (I suppose - US Badm. Association). Therefore if you are from the US, you should try to contact the association to find out how they are going to recruit the linejudges.

ps
small remark - in addition to the umpire, there is a service judge - not net judge
