Hi Everyone. I just would really like a few questions answered?

Can you fake a serve in Badminton?

Is the 'front and back' formation in doubles, used when your opponents are attacking?

True or False? In singles, when the server's score is even, the serve is taken from the right hand side.

Excuse my lack of badminton knowledge, i hope someone can fill me in, thanks

Hi Lauren,

First, you can't fake a serve... you HAVE to serve to start each rally. Second, front and back formation in doubles is an offensive formation, that means that you stay in that when your opponents are defending or "side-by-side". Singles or Doubles, serving on the righthand side of the court means your current score is EVEN number. 0 is an even number, so you start serving from the right side.

Now I recommend that you read through the threads or search the forum for answers before posting. Not everybody here would give you the courtesy of replying. Please refer to FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) stickies for more basic information. Anyway, welcome to BF and enjoy your stay:)!

Err, really?

What cappy75 meant to say was that for singles serving on the righthand side means that your current score is even. For doubles it depends on which side of the court the server started the game on. (Right -> even score, Left -> odd score when serving from the right hand court)

Thanks, Sliced Drop... beside replying to Lauren's query, I wanted to add the reason why we serve on the right side of the court at the start of every game (singles or doubles):o. Obviously, we switch side every time we score a point with our service.
