For all you Canadians:
Does anybody know why Bobby Milroy hasn't been selected to go to the Olympics? I thought he was in the Top 32 ranking and is the country's top singles player. Is he injured?
Will Canada have two mixed doubles teams there (Bourret/Juilen & Beres/Patrick)?

From speaking with soon-to-be Canadian Olympian Anna Rice, many Canadian players will not be able to go to Athens because they did not meet criteria/standards set by Badminton Canada. Ironically, many of them have indeed qualified to go to the Olympics by IBF/IOC criteria, but the Badminton Canada standards are higher, so Badminton Canada won't allow them to go! Yes, it's as messed up as it sounds and our athletes are not happy.
So confirmed is Anna Rice will be playing womens doubles with Denise Julien. Anna might also be playing mixed doubles, or she might play her strongest event in womens singles.

I guess Anna won't be playing mixed for sure, since the only other 2 Canadian Men who are playing in the Olympics are already playing mixed doubles (with Jody Patrick and Denyse Julien).
But isn't Anna Rice inelgible to play singles? I thought the Olympics rules for this year are different from the Sydney Olymipcs rules. In Sydney, if you're qualified to play in one event, you're allowed to play in other events, but I thought the rule this year states that you're only allow to play in the event which you've qualified for.

Click on badminton and you'll find the athletes and events. It is in French, so:
Double Mixte = Mixed doubles
Doubles hommes = men doubles
Double dames = women doubles
Simple dames = women singles
Simple hommes = men singles
The CBC site is not even updated!

Anna Rice won't be playing in Singles.
But before they announced it, some said she wouldn't because she didn't quality in the world's anyway. she was ranked in the 30's I think and the cut off was like rank 16 or something. that's what the North Shore News said...but I'm not sure where they got their sources from...
Sigh...canada's tight on budget...lol. we can't afford to send players who just qualify. lol. but that really sucks. we don't have that many players there.

Anna Rice is second on the waiting list so she wouldn't qualify anyway. (the last qualified player is Salakjit Ponsana)
