View Full Version : Help! My Ti-10 Becomes So Fat!
Feng_MP-100 08-06-2004, 02:42 AM Umm... I have stopped using my Ti-10 for about 2 weeks, because the tension dropped a lot(was strung with BG-68Ti @ 23lbs 4 months ago, now it's around 20 or 18). Today, when I check it, the frame of my Ti-10 looks wider than before! It's so fat that it's almost like a circle! When I compare it to my other Ti-10, it is 1cm wider on both sides. I guess the tension of the cross strings have dropped a lot!
I just wonder should I cut the string now or just leave it? Will the racquet be damaged if I just leave it like that?
Feng_MP-100 08-06-2004, 02:56 AM Since it becomes wider, the total length of the racquet decreased by .5 cm.:(

Haha, I found this picture on eBay. This is how my Ti-10 looks like~ So faaaaaaat~http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/images/smilies/confused.gif
timeless 08-06-2004, 04:16 AM I strongly recommend you cut the strings now. If your racquet head is as round as you say, leaving it like that will most certainly damage it.
BTW, the photo looks fine to me...

This one looks much better! iso shape!
i think you need to go and get some sleep instead of worry about your racket being round at 3.30am... ;)

i can live without a food or water; i can live without a car; i can live without a gf!!! but NOT my badminton racquets!!! i can live without anything EXCEPT badminton!!!!! My poor lil Ti-10 is suffering T_T ... *goes to sleep* *sobs*...
bluejeff 08-06-2004, 06:23 AM This is where and when you want to have a string machine, if you are not satisfy with it, you can always cut the strings and put the new strings on in the middle of the night :D:D
LazyBuddy 08-06-2004, 10:04 AM If the stringer used 2 piece (4 knots) methods, it might because one of the knots for cross string is not tight enough, and losing tension.
Cut the string, and re-string it. Or, if the stringer is reputable and responsible, show him the racket, and see if you can get a free re-string job.
jug8man 08-06-2004, 12:18 PM it looks like a 2 knot method.
who ever strung that ought to be shot. sacriledge!!!
kidding :D:D:D
Muteki 08-06-2004, 01:52 PM it looks like a 2 knot method.

Therefore, 4 knot method is a better choice.

He did not even post a pic for his Ti-10, how you know which method the stringer used???
henrileconte 08-06-2004, 03:06 PM Well, a you can string with one piece but you will need a around the world method and a good stringer. Actually that is the best method, when you are capable of doing it. Anyway, when a racket is going out of shape it is clearly a stringing problem. Go back to the shop and let it be done again, but do it quickly. Otherwise just cut out the string as soon as possible. Since rackets brake due to these things.
Good luck
Feng_MP-100 08-06-2004, 03:45 PM It's actually 2 piece... it was not like that round before... but the cross tension dropped, so the shape changed... i guessed thats what happened...

Two-knot is one piece; four-knot is two pieces. He said that he has the two pieces, which is four-knot.

Check the two cross string tie-off knots. If they have not slipped, then it is not likely the distortion is due to tension loss on just the cross strings. It could be the mains were strung at higher tension than the crosses. It also could be due to the last cross string not being strung, just weaved through and hand-pulled, because the stringer missed a step when his mind was pre-occupied with something else. It could also be that the clamps are slipping and are due for a cleaning job with IPA. Mind you, BG68ti strings are thin and slippery, much more so than BG85.

whoops. thanks LB. i thought that picture was Feng's racquet.
that one in particular does looks like a 2 knot pattern though.
lets see.
2 knot and round shape racquet head just like in picture.
4 knot and round shape racquet head just like Feng's racquet.
conclusion?
Therefore, 4 knot method is a better choice.
your obs totaly nulified dude.
its the singer not the song
New_Guy04 08-08-2004, 09:54 PM me 2... did your mp99 look so round like that at700???
well, it didn't look THAT fat,
but then again, i tend to find the mp 99 and iso ti sp heads much SQUARIER than the usual rackets.... but thats' just me...

Yeah, you are correct, ISO-TI-SP rackets are the most square ones..... that's why they are isometric rackets...... :D
TheGr8Two 08-08-2004, 11:29 PM Ti 10 should be fat, at least fatter than M77 and MP100. Same goes for the Ti 7. And that applies when it's not strung as well as strung. I wouldn't worry about it.

No you can't live without food and water. Without it you will DIE, in which you won't even have the badminton that you love so much.
Yes, you can live without a car, provided you have someone to carpool with or likes the public transport.
Yes and no, you can and cannot live without a gf. You will eventually find that life is empty without a partner, envious of your peers who are married with cute little tots to play with at home. Still, most people won't do it until they're ready anyway. Some don't marry for life and they're doing fine.
Go to sleep already! http://www.badmintonforum.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif
But seriously, I think we BF'ers are being a little cruel here - the Ti-10 is an expensive racquet and I would truly understood what he would be feeling is mine were to bloat like that. If it looks exactly like the first photo, then it's a little too fat in my reckoning. I own one of these and I'd be in torment if it's ever to 'suffer' like that. I've used it to play some of the best games in my life, reponses almost perfectly with my playing style as well as being the legendary racquet from the plane of Raw Power.
Feng-MP-100, I wish your racquet speedy recovery. Or if there's any recovery at all. Talk to the stringer.
