Athletes or sportmen/horse racing owners etc aren't allowed to bet on their own events. This is because favourites could sometimes make more money by throwing the event than the prize money they'd get for winning.

The bookies based it in consistency. Lee/Choong have the tendency of losing simple games or unpredictable.
