Tingleff 08-16-2004, 07:11 AM That's the way to do it JR!!!!!!!!!!!
I didn't have the opportunity to watch the game, but the world must know how happy I was, when I saw the result on the net!
Very very well done!
These are the pic's to see every where in the danish web-medias right now:
I managed to catch a glimpse on Australian TV (entire second set)...Kim & Ra seemed to be very tight, many errors they normally would not make. But Jonas and Rikke actually targeted shuttle towards their opponents' body very well, tightening the players before the killer shots...plus Jonas and Rikke has many shots that hit the net and rolled to their benefit!
I still think they can improve as Jonas and Rikke also tightened towards the end and could not close the match off for a few points. Hopefully they can hold their nerves all the way.
Congratulations to both and keep believing!!! :D
Tingleff 08-16-2004, 07:36 AM I just found theese too!
yclin 08-16-2004, 07:40 AM Jonas and Rikke, keep going for the gold medals!! You can make it!
henrileconte 08-16-2004, 07:42 AM Well, what can one say? Brilliant...congratulations! Don't worry too much, whatever happens now is already much more than 99% of the badminton world would have held for possible. So just enjoy!! Great great great!
flint 08-16-2004, 07:43 AM Nice pictures! WELL DONE JONAS AND RIKKE!
SteveStanley 08-16-2004, 07:43 AM Way to go JR, get TWO GOLDs for us ... congrats!!! :)
I don't know what to say, other than CONGRATULATIONS! It's just fantastic. Nobody is unbeatable, but Kim/Ra were pretty close to just that...
Keep it up! Only two matches left! Well, and the MD of course... :p
:D:D:D
Syaoran_Style 08-16-2004, 08:04 AM I found some other pix =p
once again congrats :D ;)
Congrats Jonas!!! He is really emotional.. i think it was one of his biggest win in Mixed doubles.. to win over the greatest pair , Hail Jonas and Olsen!
Now i'm sure they are the favs to win the Gold in Mixed.
cooler 08-16-2004, 09:11 AM Way to Go Jona and Rikke.
Can't hardly wait to watch this match.
Best wishes on your semi and final :)

Excellent performance but Rikke's been at it for a decade and she's never played so well, so it may be a one-off thing. The remarkable thing is that there are now 3 European pairs in the XD SF. Gao/Zhang have given away v few points but have not met 'real' opposition. And the odds are against their repeating their feat of 2000.
'Hold your courage to the sticking place and thou shalt not fail.'
They actually celebrated like they have just won the Gold Medal!
flint 08-16-2004, 09:52 AM Beating Ra/Kim is no easy feat!
They actually celebrated like they have just won the Gold Medal!
they have done what no one have been able to do for the last year and a bit, and more importantly they did it during the most important tournament, the Olympics!
congratulations Jonas. you have left all of us speechless!!
cooler 08-16-2004, 09:58 AM It sure feels great when the burden of meeting or beating the expection is lifted. Now it's all gravy from here, no pressure too.
Blue_XeroZ 08-16-2004, 10:13 AM great job great job crazy games:rolleyes: nice Jonas go for da GOLD:)
hdson 08-16-2004, 12:58 PM Congrat to JR, and do hope Rikke will join us soon... as a new Olympic Gold medalist :D
now that Kim/Ra are out, Jonas, the GOLD medal is wide open for anybody to grab. no one has every gotten two badminton gold medals in one Olympics before. this is the time to make badminton history.
go for it!! you will have all the support from us in BC!!!!!!!
GOLD!!
chibe_K 08-16-2004, 02:05 PM JR,
For all these years, Kim Dong-Moon is my all star favourite and he is the best. Now, you are the best of the best since you have beaten the best !
Go for it ! Make history, winning 2 golds in badminton !
Neil Nicholls 08-16-2004, 02:34 PM Congratulations Jonas and Rikke. I was sorry to see Kim and Ra lose, but very happy to see you win.
I have to support Nathan and Gail in the semi final though.
But hey, what if Europe could take all the medals in the mixed ?
Congrats JR...
I love Kim and Ra too but this one is due. Keep it up!
I'm sure the Korean pair will have a comeback...
Kamen 08-16-2004, 11:55 PM congratulation! i was informed by my friend that Kim/Ra lost in the XD. The first thing that came to my mind was "are the winners, JR & Rikke?" When i checked the net, i was so happy that you guys beat "the best". Go for the gold now.....
Thank you very, very much for your support here on the forum and the stadiums around the world!!!
As I'm still competing down here I'll wait untill I'm finished playing to tell you the whole story!!
Yesterday was both amazing and disappointing for as you all know by now.
There will be no pressure on us know now in the mixed as I see the english pair as favorites!!
Hopefully we can avenge the loss in the european final earlier this year!!
Kind Regards from Athens!!!
JR :D :D :D

BobbyGeneric 08-17-2004, 08:40 AM  I too must say I am shocked and VERY impressed that JR could take time out of his current *extremely* busy schedule at the olympics just to give us a quick hello! With thoughtfulness like that, JR, you must have a heart of
GOLD
(at least when it comes to mixed :p )

Cheung 08-17-2004, 09:03 AM Never seen Rikke celebrate like that before.
Consolations to Jonas and Lars for the men's doubles. I need that 'crying' smiley again :(

Agreed! For a long time we have not seen Rikke celebrate like that!
flint 08-17-2004, 09:19 AM Jonas, we all look forward to the semi's, and best of luck. We'd love to have world and olympic champions here! Good luck to you, and of course not forgetting the lady, Rikke! :D
Take Care God Bless
I have to admit it was a great game and no one would have thought it possible, the gold was Kim and Ra's for sure given that they've only ever been beaten 8 or so times in 6 years
Have to say the measure of the man is when you turned round after the first game and blew a kiss to the crowd who were chanting and cheering you on, always thinking of others and I'm sure there will be a good crowd there to cheer you on against the GB pair.
FEND. 08-17-2004, 03:58 PM Good work man!! I never expected it, but well you just proved half the badminton world wrong. Now win that gold!!!
BoboTheBadder 08-18-2004, 04:10 PM I'm very late coming into this discussion since I've been moving for the past 2 days, but when I've been scrolling through the results for the Olympics I came upon a big shocker! I just wanted to give a big shout out to Jonas and Rikke Olson for beating Kim & Ra, who were thought to be unbeatable before these games! Way to go Jonas! No matter win or loss, beating Kim & Ra is a big accomplishment in itself! Congrats! :D
