Jonas,
First of all being a new zealander I must congratulate you and Rikke on beating the New Zealand team. The main thing I wanted to ask is that im currently 14 and the chances of me getting into the Auckland U16's team next year is quite slim. I compete at a level where I play most of the people in New Zealand at my age group, but usually lose. I was wondering if you could help me with my training and what I should do. Half the time I'm not concentrated enough and don't have enough stamina. By the way...what do you think of your game against Dan Shirley and Sara Runeston-Peterson?

Hey fellow nz baddy player (zerochillnet):)
Im from Dunedin, way down south you could say! How did you feel about Sara's and Dan's perfromance (against Rikke and Jonas?). I rekon it was a good game on our behalf as we werent seeded nearly as high as them! Did you get a chance to see any other kiwi baddy action from the olympics?

Hi Zerochillnet!!

Keep training and believing you can make is maybe the most important thing to do at your age. Maybe you could try to contact the top new zealand pair and get some inspiration from then??

They´ve been playing well during the past year and did very well to qualify for the olympics. In our game they pushed us into setting where we chose to play to 15 and won. I think that gave us the confidence to win the second more comfortably.

So, keep training, and try to find inspiration from your topplayers or buy some video of the greatest players in the world.

Kind Regards

Jonas

Zero, I know this year a lot of boys trialled for Auckland rep teams. Have you considered trialling for another association? You don't have to live in the area you play for.
Good luck for the future!

yea dan and sara are very nice people sara came to talk to us today at high performance squad about her time in Athens, she reckons that dan and herself played quite well. i didn't know there were so many people here from NZ...and thanks Jonas for the advice.

playing for auckland has higher demands because the opportunity to people ratio is really low, which kinda forces us to train harder in order to get the opportunities. But i guess if i played for another team i'd actually get more chance to improve...duno

Well Zero, if you are in a high performance squad maybe you are doing better than you think!
But just remember that Waitakere won the North Island U14 champs & Counities came 2nd - lots of good players there! & in the 16s a lot of North Harbour's good players are going up to the U18 age division. You have plenty of time to think it over anyway.
