Unfortunately Taufik was not seeded. For me this is bad draw number 1: Taufik puts out both WCH and Gade.
Second part of bad draw is that WCH and Gade are in the same half of the draw.
Personally having seen nearly all the matches I would say if there was a good draw results would have been Taufik:Gold. WCH:Silver. Gade:Bronze. Both of these were close to Taufik but he virtually destroyed everyone else.
Such a shame I think.

I agree with this assessment. As WCH was the only one that took Taufik to 3 sets.
Congrats to Taufik though, I think he played brilliantly. However, it is very sad that the 2 gentlemen of badminton (WCH and Peter Gade) did not get anything. :( I really doubt if these 2 will be around for Beijing, your spirit may want it, but your body may not be able to take it.
tend to agree that the draw wasn't an accurate reflection of real strength. however, the only indicator the IBF have to guage player's strength (and thus seedings) is their performance in the past year. and Taufik's isn't very

Personally, I think the worst aspect of the draw was Lin Dan vs Ronny Susilo in the FIRST round. To have the world rank #1 and the world rank #9 face off in the first round is not only ridiculous, but completely outlandish.
If Lin had a normal unseeded opponent in his first round, he may have been able to build confidence and ease off the pressures of top seed and of having high hopes from everybody for gold. By facing a top opponent like Susilo, Lin succumbed to the pressures, just as Taufik did 4 years ago in Sydney.
Of course, Kenny Johansen vs Chen Hong in 1st round is also massive BS.
Hopefully IBF can make more realistic and fair draws in relation to world ranking in the future tournies.

Agreed.
I thought the #1 seed would be playing the worst ~#32 in the first round match... (#2 vs. #31 and so on)
For the Olympic draws, was it random in any way?
seven

Except for the eight first seeds, the rest is random yes. (with nationality separation of course)
