well i suppose i started when i was only 2 years old (that's when i was first able to hit the shuttle) but i wasn't playing properly at all. i started playing regularly when i was 6 (once a week) but still just messing around really. i really started taking it seriously (as in i started to play matches with people) when i was eleven and then started to play competitively when i was about 12, so i'd say 3 years (i'm 15 now)

I started holding the racket for the first time when I was 2 years old ... started playing for fun with friends at 8, joined the club for formal training at 11, quit training because I realized the tough competition and wanted to focus on school at 15, has been playing for fun since then, I never thought of quiting even though I got few injuries here and there and recently just got the worst one ... still recovering ... badminton has been part of my life ... :)

24 years, with a 2 year break somewhere along the way. I'm just the wrong side of 30 - too old to be any good and too young to play veterans. :p

First picked up the game in school. Was just casual on-and-off playing for a few months.. (can't remember precisely).

Then a 10 year gap.

Got back into the game this spring, and only just started playing weekly during the last 2 months..

Still at beginner level.. and learning :p

have you still got all your skills? because when i stopped for a few weeks, i swear i was only 85% as goodnope. not even close.
it might be many factors. during the off-time, i hurt my shoulder, but shouldn't be an excuse, since its my non-racquet hand.
also, before, i played with people who were consistently better than me, so maybe in order to prevent myself from dragging everyone down, i had to improve constantly. now i dont' get such opportunity, playing with a few friends who just picked it up.

i'm probably around 50-75%... but i do feel that i've been getting closer to back on form. but still inconsistant.

I am only 13, and in grade 8, so it is hard for me to play a lot. I started in October of grade 7 in my school and just played there. I made the team that year. This year, I made it again, and I look forward to next year. My coach told me that I should try some provincial tournaments. :) So about a year and a half but not consistently.

Well , I've played 'backyard badminton' frequently when I was in China . Basically , me and my parents were just trying to keep a rally going and we were just playing on the roads for fun I guess... that was when I was about 7 or 8 . Then I came to Canada and haven't played any badminton since Sept.2004 ( 8 months ago ) , which is when I've been playing some 'real' badminton :D

- btw MikeyB , I'm in grade eight as well ;) -

I'm 15 years old now.
Been playing for about 9 years.
First 4 years were "backyard badminton".
Last 5 have been pretty serious, as in reguarly attending a club.
In the last 1 year it has got really serious with some hefty training. ;)
