Ok just thought I would make a quick list of a few clubs which one can go to to play in and around Rutland. (midlands)

Some of these are more social affairs and others are fairly good club standard.

Monday evening: 8-10, Melton, St.Edwards College sport centre.
Good standard, some county players. Very few women.
Stamford, 8pm onwards, Girls school - havent been there
yet but intend to try it out.
Tuesday: Uppingham, Public school near swimming pool. 7.30 onwards.
Plays in league, fairly good players. First night free.
Wednesday: Oakham, Public school hall near swimming pool.
7.00-9.00, very very nice atmosphere, good spread of standards.
Thursday: Oakham, Rutland College, 8.00pm - 10ish
Medium standard, on the rise. Venue unreliable.

Ok thats my 2cents.

Just curious, because I went to school in Oakham (15 years ago), does the main hall still have that fuzzy green carpet?

When I went there, we used to have an England singles player called Marc Smith. We sometimes joined in with the evening club for friendly matches.

Do you still get pupils from the school?

I might make a trip up there soon. :)

Haha yeah right on dude! The Green carpet still stands, and to be honest I love it cause i dont slide at all. (mm on the downside you get carpet burn if you fall)
Yeah pop right on in. The standard isnt the best, but the fun factor is really great.

Btw best standard in the region which I have encountered is at a club in Stamford which plays Tues 5.30 and Sat 3.00, run by and ex-RAF guy called Gordon. There are some really top grade; eg: Cambridgeshire singles champion etc.

(incase you aske, I am one of the worst in the group, and have just been there twice. Hopefully I will improve)

Thanks for the info.

When I was there, our team coach was an RAF man too (from RAF Cottesmore I think). I guess these guys have a lot of ground time on their hands to pracatise. :p

Yeah.

Apparently this guy has been running the Stamford club for like 15 years. He must be around 65ish now.

I am so exhausted, since Monday I have played just over 10hours, with another 2 hours to add to the tally tonight. hehe - too addicted.
