Having had only one day of training after winning the Olympics, Taufik lost to Wimpie in the Indonesian National Games (PON) 11-15 and 15-17. Wimpie is very proud of himself ...

Maybe so but that gold medal round Taufik's neck would have slowed him down :D not to mention so many games at the Olympics

Why do you find this surprising? Whilst Taufik's stupidly talented, he ain't hardworking or consistent.

There is nothing surprising about an olympic champion losing immediately after.
The olympics are so important in a player's mind and they work so hard for it that anything coming directly after seems to have no value. (and not be worth the fight)

I should think it is very difficult to remotivate yourself for this sort of match just after winning the olympics! (no matter how consistent you are)

On the other hand, all Taufik's opponents will now be ultra-motivated because they want to beat the olympic champion!

I think he needs a little while to "digest" his title and find big motivation again. (same thing for the other olympic champions)

You win some; and you will lose some :)

Especailly we all know Taufik isn't stable

I really dont think national games in indonesia matter as much. Im sure you can imagine all the celebration taufik had gone through after his win, he probably needs another few weeks to get back at his top level again. Its quite common when you train all the time and then take a small break off, he did mention however the only guy who can come back after weeks off of training and still be just as good is Sigit.

Yah, too much 'celebration' can be distracting ;)

i think he could just lost to wimpie because he was distracted by a fanatic fan of wimpie i read today in a paper...
taufik was pissed when the audience were teasing him beacause of his lost to wimpie then he refused to be interviewed by the reporters.taufik is allergic when people are teasing him or if reporters are criticizing him.
a couple of times he got in a fight with some of the audience and he hit them with his racket!
