Which area of SE London are you in? Dagenham is one of the strongest clubs in East London, it's run by Yap Yee Guan, who used to play doubles for Malaysia. But it's almost all men and they only play doubles.

If you join any league club, you will have to register with the Badminton Association of England anyway, so you can then enter BAE tournaments.

You can get lists of clubs from each county badminton association. If you're in SE London, probably Middlesex or Essex, possibly even Kent.
