Looking For Badminton Players In Join Us In Hougang

hi to all ! we are currently looking for fresh badminton players to join our group. we play every sat morning at hougang buangkok area. Our group consists of players whose skill levels range from lower intermediate to advanced ! our atmosphere is friendly and we love to joke instead of acting serious all the time ! but when it comes to matches we are out to win :D . we play doubles 90% of the time n 10% singles if there are fewer people. Two courts are booked every session

requirements is simple.

u must have a passion for badminton n loves to play matches!
u should live around hougang,ang mo kio,bishan,toa payoh,serangoon north,sengkang,pungol to facilitate easy accessibility to our courts.fyi 3 of our players live in bedok,jurong east n woodlands !
your skill level should be between intermediate to advanced !
like to interact with people n dont mind our somtimes crazy jokes !

I live in Bishan. I guess the only thing I don't really know is my standard. Definitely not beginner, but I don't know if that qualifies for intermediate. But I'm very interested, and I need to play with everyone to improve! =)

hi sorry for the confusion . let me explain .

our intermediate level definition -

know most rules of badminton n scoring/ has already acquired the basic badminton skills .
can do smashing retrieving serving defending drop shots(dont worry, u can practice more here ! ) this means that the player has already acquired a consistent level in executing these shots without too many errors in a short time.
can keep a rally going
have an adequate idea about doubles strategies n formation
sound or adequate footwork

advanced level


can almost perform any shots in badminton consistently n without too many errors. eg . angle slice drop , cross court drop, pushing to the corners, spinning net shots, cross court smash or drop , cross net shots, can vary serves etc .
can apply doubles strategies n formation without too much problem
quick n fast footwork
good defense n offensive skills
most of our players are upper intermediates . only about 2 to 3 fit is around the lower advanced level . why i put advanced is that we welcome higher levels to join us because we believe that this will help us improve too .
the above is just a rough guide. come n join n u can see clearly for yourself wat levels are we in ! :cool: bye !

Hmm i think i might have scared a lot of people when i wrote the above definition. its just technically speaking n we dont really follow them to a T. we welcome all types of players who are not beginners and those who wants to have more doubles or singles match play, please feel free to join us ! please ignore the above definitions ;) . sorry about that ! we are no professionals ! so dont shy k ! ciao n hope to play a game with u soon !

thats great ! it is near too . if u have a bicycle better still! u can come n try out our group n see if u feel comfortable with it . the cost is $10 for 3 hrs plus unlimited shuttle usage. next saturday is on . if u want can give me your contact or pm me too .! im imtermediate only so dont worry k :)

hi,im only a teenager ahx..14 only..i have weekly training under my coach on sun afternoon in hg sports hall as i live near there.Is there any chance of me just seeing you all play if i have the opportunity because i may not be free on some saturdays and certainly not free this week.where exactly do you all play in buangkok.i dont remember buangkok having any badminton court because i am currently having my education in a school in sengkang and play once or twice a week with my classmates or schoolteam after schools.thx alot

ex nationals..my coach is an ex-national..he said he was in the singapore team for 4 years.but i dont think he will play because he has to coach us.if you are free you can come down to hg sports hall during weekends and befriend him he seems to know everyone there.

hi to all who replied tks. i already left the group as i was not happy with the organiser who simply dont care if others are happy or not. im now playing tennis more often n it has been really long since i last touch badminton. i was suprised to see so many replied. sorry for the late reply as i only came in here today! i have a suggestion, .. since so many live in hougang, why dont one of u guys start a group also. i dont mind playing with u people as long as its enjoyable n fun ! the imh is open to public booking and i think sbs transit is having a feeder bus inside too. othere places like hougang sports hall is still as popular as ever.. rather hard to get courts... so any one will like to volunteer ?:)

You have just revived a thread that started in 2004 and last got a reply
in 2006.

So I guess you won't get a positive response from this thread.

Perhaps you could look elsewhere to look for groups to join.

You could join the group I'm in if you are keen. We usually play on Sats
afternoon althought timing and venue can vary.
